I played 60 hours in 2 weeks. Absolutely amazing. A couple of quality of life tweaks and this could be my favourite game. I downloaded a survival mod that just kinda removes some of the grind, makes the game way more fun 'cause you can spend more time building insane things. That's way more fun that just grinding materials ><. DEVS! When you see this, less grind, more fun plz! :)

It's a fast version of age of empires, made in someones basement, that somehow manages to handle 20k units on a screen. It's genius...but indie.
All in all...it's a great game. Just missing some things.
Can't see your units behind buildings.
More unique characteristics for each civ.
Better sounds for when your units are under attack.
When capturing a town the 'lost barracks' etc. messages are annoyingly dumb when they weren't yours really to begin with.

Little things like that.

Entry into this game I can only imagine is nigh insurmountable. The beginning is punishing but levels off as you get accustomed to mechanics. The game itself is amazing, and I've got 7k+ hours in. The new leagues are everything for about a month of solid play...I live for them. Stash tabs are necessary only when you start investing a lot of time into the game, so it really is free to play. MTX are just bonus, nothing mandatory.
Play it at some point, cuz it may change your life (by stealing 90% of your free time).

Lovely game. The fun kind of tedious. Everything is a challenge but the continued progress makes it feel good. Lovely.
