Great game, get the complete edition on sale though the DLC is average but still worth playing.

A very respectable successor in the L4D series.
Some of the great elements remain as a solid base for the gameplay; the "stage" like levels, the inconveniently timed hordes and of course the special infected who's sole purpose is to catch you with your pants down.

Weapons are now much more diverse and feel like a solid shooter, the rarity/mod system often leaves you with mismatched weapon/mod combos though. Not a big deal but being able to hotswap them without a penalty would be the QoL improvement we all need.

Enemy types are pretty standard for zombie shooters, reminiscent of the L4D Zs but definitely built upon. The varieties of each that force you to change strategy depending on the level modifiers.

Cards - For those who wear a foam helmet they are hard to understand. They serve as modifiers, that's it. They get a lot of flak for being complicated, build a deck (a loadout) based on what weapons you use, simple as that. The melee build is straight up broken, with enough cards you become immortal. You earn cards throughout the game by doing various things.
Level cards are not earned but depend on the difficulty to determine the things you encounter - armoured enemies etc. keeping each playthrough varied.

DLC is OK, feels like an extension of the game but nothing awe inspiring. The "Skull Totem" currency is both grindy to obtain AND not worth it unless you yearn for skins.
