The remaster of a remaster that knocks it out of the park once again. Mute Crimson DX is a fantastic blend of Ninja Gaiden and Super Meat Boy. It is fairly challenging, in particular with bosses, however the game is very generous with checkpoints so don't be too discouraged. On a first playthrough it should take somewhere between 4-7 hours to complete. This game makes for a wonderful blind race with friends as well. Replayability exists in the form of collectibles and post game extras to unlock. DX in comparison to Mute Crimson+ adds two new worlds equally as fun and expands upon the music and colorblind options.

Highly recommend this game. I have 7 hours of play on this review with 114 hours put into speedrunning Mute Crimson+ previously. With that said I received Mute Crimson DX for free. Consider picking this one up, it is a blast to play as a great challenge without being too overbearing.

It starts off well being a cute, Kirby-like gameboy platformer. The combat however you realize early on has next to no variety. You use hats to change your equipped ability, but most of them tend to be useless or actively a hindrance to your progress. Most of the stages feel fine enough, however when you get into some of the later dungeons they suddenly are *extremely* easy to get lost in. The game expects you to remember what every location is called without any indicator on the world map screens so you find yourself just wandering around until you finally stumble on the correct one again. For the kind of game it is, it goes on way too long as well. I expected to be done with it far sooner than it was and as time went on it was evident that I was not having fun anymore. Everything felt like a chore by that point. Sad this didn't quite get where I wanted it, maybe it's good for others. It's not terrible by any means, but it's also not good enough that I could recommend it in any way.

Absolutely awesome Mega Man style game. The movement and grappling in Gravity Circuit is so smooth and clean. Combat feels nice with various ways to go about it. The stage design is very good. This game is basically Mega Man Zero but with actually GREAT stage design instead of off screen spike pits everywhere. Bosses are a lot of fun, nothing feels unfair but rather pretty balanced. The art style is very nice, each area being themed with a color as well. I have a feeling I'll be returning to this game once in a while (if I don't decide to speedrun it) for another playthrough, it was just a genuine blast to play.

Early Access Review
Cross Blitz provides a very fun card game that feels like a mix of Hearthstone and Inscryption with a little Yu-Gi-oh style comboing with card effects. There's a lot of playstyles to work with in both the stories and the Roguelite mode. The art is gorgeous and the music is on point as well.

This game feels so close to being good. The controls are very responsive and it feels great to move around. But the stage design is absolute trash. The game is made to be like Classic Castlevania, which is great, I quite enjoy the original CV games. What this mostly means is they gave a dedicated rather than free control. The problem is the stages are built for movement that are meant to have free control. Extremely few instances make sense to work with a dedicated jump. Many of said jumps are jumping blindly downward with instant death below and a single tile platform to hopefully jump on. Not only that they place enemies with abilities or defenses in areas that make it so you literally can't attack them. For example, a skeleton with a shield that can only be hit from behind or its feet is placed on a lower ground than you. So now you have to wait for the enemy to make its way up the slope so you can even hit it. There are also no checkpoints, even at bosses so good luck fighting your way back if you die to said boss. I badly wanted to like this game because of how good it feels to play, but when the game punishes you for going both fast or slow with bad stage design for the mechanics they provide then it makes it a miserable experience instead.

It starts of fun and gets into some extremely atrocious level design. Completing the hardest levels/collectibles doesn't feel satisfying. The frustration from what seems to be several frame perfect inputs as the intended way to solve levels outshines the fun that the game does have in it.

It's not terrible, but not good enough to recommend it and it definitely needed some reworking to make it fully enjoyable.

Gameplay just wasn't all that fun, there's a ton of backtracking in some areas, Cutscenes are unskippable and you have one at Every. Single. Major. Monster. You take damage for failing the minigames prior to those cutscenes, none of which are fun either. Platforming wasn't that good, it's very easy to slip off onto death spikes. It's easy to get juggled by enemies and just die in many places. I mostly finished it because I played it X amount and was far enough in I didn't want to leave it unfinished.

Okay then. I have a small disclaimer: I bought this on PS4 initially so 99% of my hours are from playing there, I have put quite a bit of time in it there. I recently got PC via humble bundle as well to play with other friends not on PS4. My laptop barely runs it without lag after some modification. Completely playable still like this and still as good of an experience as I've had on PS4.

This game is absolutely fantastic.

Remember that this is a MOBA in every way that just is using FPS as a way to play it. There are three multiplayer modes: Incursion (more traditional and the best imo), Meltdown (pushing minions to a checkpoint rather than a tower), and Capture Points (your basic Nodes or Conquest mode, closest thing to a deathmatch you can get)

The visuals are great, while somewhat chaotic, it isn't hard to get used to it. Melee characters are harder to get used to it though, but still very doable. (I main a melee character, a few games in and I was set)

I have heard complaints that you hear the same stuff over and over from each character, but this is in all multiplayer games with voices. In this game they are spaced out far from each other as well so you don't hear someone say the same thing more than *maybe* 3 time max in a game and even that is rare. I can't tell you how many of the same phrase I have heard while playing Battlefield 3 in a single match, yet that isn't a complaint you really hear from people. These kind of quips are especially common throughout MOBA styled games.

The voice acting is actually very well done in the game. Each character unique and you can immediately tell what kind of personality they have.

Some people complain about a difficulty curve. There is a bit of a difficulty curve, yes, but seriously what MOBA (or shooter or fighter or puzzle, etc) doesn't have that? This is simpler than most MOBAs anyway because you generally are just pushing minions and having team fights, you don't have to worry about lane towers and you especially don't have to worry about Jungle. Jungle in this game is minimal, there are just NPC units you can kill and get out into lane as one of your own. These units attack the sentries in the mode Incursion with a *ton* of damage so they are vital to get on your team.

Shards are the other Jungle type element. All powerups, or gear as it is called, in this game are bought with shards on a kit that you get to customize for your character. This is similar to creating a loadout in CoD or Battlefield. You could also compare them to perks you get in Cod, though not with a killstreak, it is with the aformentioned shards you collect. These become a very important element in your playstyle and team play. I have one for example, while expensive on shards, grants my entire team 20% shared shards. After that point, the team almost never has to worry about shards again, one person going to get a shard collection benefits the team greatly. Shards are also used to build turrets and health stations on the battlefield, which are also needed in strategic play.

Characters are diverse and cater to many many playstyles. Each one will take time to learn, but again, it's a MOBA, ALL characters take time to learn in these types of games no matter what you do. I personally main Boldur, a melee character. I got used to the "screen chaos" fairly quickly and it poses no issues. I've heard complaints that when someone played a melee character you just had to run in and hope your attacks something because of the visuals. This is completely not true. You have a reticle for a reason. If you just learn to use it, you can hit anything you want, especially because it TURNS RED when you are in range to hit something. Use what tools they give to you and it isn't hard.

Story Mode is great, however there isn't a whole lot to it. It is fun to replay the missions, there are little incentives to replay them. For example if you go through an area it will have the characters you are playing as give input to the mission, usually it picks one at random. But they all say different things which is entertaining to hear them all. In one of them a Sentry you are escorting doesn't know he is about to die and asks to hang out after the mission. Boldur will talk to himself over the intercom saying "does Boldur tell him? No, no, awkward situation avoided!" where Benedict will quip "man this guy doesn't have a CLUE, haha!". I do believe they are going to come out with some more story missions in the future, however. Each one will last you roughly 20-40 mins, depending on the mission, difficulty (may make it longer), and team coordination.

Now the game isn't without flaws. Matchmaking options could be better, though I personally haven't had much issue with it, I usually find a match within a minute or two, a pretty standard waiting time. What should be fixed is allowing everyone to vote on all story missions during a public session and give people the ability to rematch a team or story. They also need to add some sort of punishing system for afk players. Right now it kicks them out fairly quickly, but that's it. So currently, people who can't deal with finishing a game or actually *trying* to win even when you are currently losing will call for a surrender and sit at their TV/PC giving slight inputs so they aren't kicked. They will refuse to help in any way because they didn't get their way for chickening out in a surrender. This does need fixed because it drags everyone else down and the person can 100% get away with it without any reports.
This issue I have only encountered a couple of times, but still it needs fixed.

This game has a ton of replayability, even with the story missions. As I said before, playing through them with multiple characters gives a different experience both in game play and in dialogue. Speaking of dialogue, the humor in the game is in the vein of Borderlands. If you don't like Borderlands humor, you won't like it here. If you did like it, you'll love it just the same in Battleborn. Personally, the humor for me is spot on, everything is great about it.

Overall, if you enjoy MOBAs, you'll definitely enjoy this game for it's gameplay. It is for sure better to play with a team, but not impossible without one. I make many comparisons to this game to SMITE as a MOBA and Battlefield as an FPS, especially with the pacing of the a match. Everything flows extremely well in a game. I find that this is easily a game to keep returning to for it's charm and especially it's gameplay. Absolutely a blast!

Quite honestly, the only reason it is doing poorly is because it released in the same month as Overwatch and so they get compared. This is unfortunate because Overwatch playes absolutely nothing like Battleborn does and after the FPS and Hero selections, there are no comparisons between them whatsoever. Battleborn gives much more content with a different playstyle. If it had released a few months later, the game would be full of players. People look at it and say it looks fun but there aren't players to play with. Well the only way to change that is to get in on it yourself. The more people that pick it up depsite the players, the more will be playing and the sooner than you realize the game booming. Just like with any trend, it has to start somewhere regardless of what people think.

I look forward to seeing new players in the game and to the extra content that is still planned for release!

9/10

Did a blind race of this game with others. Paid only 19 cents for it. I want my 19 cents back; I should have quit before 2 hours and refunded. It has awful stage mechanics, the music gets irritating fast, and the controls don't work properly (I would rotate slowly just to get an extremely slight slant and then I would be 180 degrees turned without moving after that. All the time) making some levels near impossible. The only reason I kept going was because I was in a call with friends and was having fun with them...I would have quit and uninstalled long before if I hadn't been there. Definitely not worth your time.

I highly recommend this game! To me it felt like I was playing a Classic Mega Man while using Zero from the X series, all the while with a Super Meat Boy vibe to it. There are very intense platforming moments, memorable bosses as well. It definitely is a challenge as it is a OHKO game, but everything feels rewarding and like an awesome challenge more than it is frustrating. I had very, VERY few moments where I felt frustrated.

Every world has a gimmick that is used throughout the levels so the entire game feels fresh as you play through it and figure out how to handle each one.

Bosses were a tad difficult at times, but again, I found it more to be a fun challenge than a burden of defeating it.

The music is fantastic, every track is wonderful to listen to throughout each world.

The color scheme is minimal, which I like. Everything is in black and white other than hazards, enemies, bosses, and some background elements. You also can change the color in the options menu to a variety of colors to suit how you want to play.

Easily one of my new favorite games on Steam. This is a must play!
