I don't understand what is going on. It doesn't seem like anything I do damages him. It's constantly forcing me to switch characters and often times it forces me to switch to a character sitting in fire so I lose a life. What exactly am I supposed to be doing here?...

I found a "Sage" in the wall in the first human town. He said he was giving me something... What was it? Because it never said what it was and I don't see any new hats. Is there a menu I am missing?

There is a treasure chest in the middle of this dungeon, and I know flipping the switches to raise/lower water levels and making platforms has SOMETHING to do with it, but I cannot for the life of me figure out where to go to make the leftmost floating platform to the treasure chest become active. Would anybody be able to help me?...
