Aside from the obviously broken online, offline isn't too hot either. There's a lot of bugs, crashes, etc. For example some skills will have their animation play until you quit the game, sometimes the game will straight up crash, and in my game it's not possible to start post-game quests (so progression is stuck permanently).

Avoid, at least for a few months.

Retroactively added DRM. This is 100% to the detriment of the users.

Tons of fun. Pure adrenaline in videogame form. The plot is garbage but thankfully mostly skippable.

This game is a mix of platforming, exploration, monster collecting, and 3v3 battles. While the non-combat parts are nothing to go crazy over (though functional), there is a very wide variety of monsters, equipment, and strategies. Overall a good experience and well worth the price.

Fun little game. Story is very scarce and gets out of the way after the intro. The highlight is the combat, large amount of classes, possibilities, and competent AI (for example some "Mr. President, get down!" moments as an enemy dives into one of your incoming aoes to push a buddy out).

Only problems is that trying every class gets really grindy, inactive characters will lag considerably behind your A-Team and are only used in naval battles, and the amount of content to explore is a bit light. But that can be fixed by mods, I'd recommend going on the workshop and just ticking everything from Prominence.

It's very good! Massive amounts of content. The combat/class system is filched straight from Final Fantasy 5 with a few improvements. Exploration however is different - through platforming there is a MASSIVE amount of areas, secrets, items, bosses, etc that you can discover.

Plots is fairly nonexistent, and graphically it looks like RPGmaker default sprites, but don't let that hold you back from trying out this very solid game.

The demo is very long and representative of the game, and saves are compatible, so if you're unsure start with that!

As a PC port, this is a steaming turd: performance issue, prompts are for controller if you don't have one plugged, no mouse support on the map. quitting without alt+f4 is a nonsensical process that takes minutes, tiny FOV, etc etc.

But the gameplay is so good, and the amount of content so large that you end up just forgiving the game anyway.

3 main issues:

- Can't even play outside of 5AM, the servers are so taxed you can't even get into a queue

- The combat is incredibly easy, at least for the amount I played. Maybe "it gets better later", as they say, but any game that wants you to slog through dozens of hours of trivial crap is not respecting your time.

- The writing is terrible, a confused mess that includes every anime cliche it can and seems written and voiced by XxX-D4rkSasuke-xXx the edgy 12 years old.

Aside from that, it's serviceable enough. Combat would be good if the mobs didn't instantly died to a gentle fart.

A fun XCOM2-like with an utterly obscene amount of possible builds. Then 50 hours in it also unlocks fully fledged monster raising and robot building systems because why the ♥♥♥♥ not.

Since there's no permadeath, the game is not afraid of throwing a massive amount of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at you on higher difficulties and levels, which is great.

Drawbacks are a mediocre translation, especially in later parts, a very confusing storyline, and some systems feeling half-baked (the consequence of failure is your characters losing motivation, but you can buy them a drink for ten bucks to fix it... it's just unnecessary tedium). Balance is also sometimes a bit off with some skills feeling useless, but that's probably inevitable with a game of this complexity.

The initial release had a ton of negative reviews - thankfully most of these stuff has been fixed. Performance is good, denuvo removed, bugs nonexistent, etc.

One big gripe remains: the "clutch claw" system is basically necessary to kill monsters in reasonable time, and it breaks the flow of combat horribly. They did improve this a bit by making clutch effects last longer, adding a craftable decoration that lets light weapons clutch in a single hit, adding some clutch-in-one-hit moves to some melee weapons, etc. But it's still a very clunky addition that breaks the flow of combat and just feels awkward (except on hammer. this is a GREAT addition to hammer). Much less of a problem if you play only multiplayer.

Aside from that clutch problem, this game is the most fun I had in ages. It's gorgeous, great combat, great monsters, great dressing-up simulator, garbage plot but hey that's a monhun game, heavily recommended.
