The SitDownShutup&Watch Film and New Media Festival is led by a steering committee of learning disabled film makers and artists living in Regional South Australia and Adelaide.
Our vision is to live in a world where learning disabled people achieve their creative dreams and screen their work in Times Square, on iPhones and on every screen inbetween.
Our aims are to:
Form a community of like-minded learning disabled film makers and new media artists who can teach others
To have our voices heard and to be taken seriously
Get other learning disabled people to express themselves creatively through digital arts and technology.
Encourage other learning disabled people in the wider Australian and global community to connect, making physical location far less significant for our social relationships.
To become a force for social change. New Media has already been successfully used to agitate for political change eg Free Tibet Campaign, Free Hugs Campaign, the Indymedia Movement, the Occupy Movement - and we want to follow that model.
Tutti is the umbrella organization and the project is also supported by Yorke and Lower North Health and the Barossa Council.


Inspired by the Tutti initiated 2011 residency of a team from the disability led Oska Bright Film Festival in Brighton U.K., disabled artists from Tutti, ‘Superstars’, (from the Mid North of South Australia) and the Barossa Valley, have formed a committee to create Australia’s first learning disability film festival.

Supported by Tutti, Newman’s Own Foundation, Mid North Health, The Barossa Council and Country Arts SA, the committee meets monthly in Gawler to plan workshops with other disabled artists in Regional South Australia in the lead-up to the first proposed Film and New Media Festival in 2014.

The committee members are: Chair: Lee Witczak, Vice Chair: Aimee Crathern, Matthew Wauchope, Liam Wilkins, James Kurtze, Samantha Charles and Ryan Thomas.
