This is not a game. Nor is it one of those 'experiences' or 'interactive stories' which aren't games either but may be worth your time for about 50 cents anyway. This is literally some pixel backgrounds, some music and a character you can move by pointing and clicking the mouse, that's it. I bought this a while ago in a Humble Bundle sale by mistake, thinking it was the game 'Stranded Deep' but no, this is something entirely different and not worth a cent/penny.

On the up side... What I did was cut the music to Stranded and have it run in the background while I was playing a real game, so as to collect the Steam Trading Cards. I'm selling the cards in the Steam Market to get my money back (well, I will be in two weeks because of the darned grace period Valve deemed necessary to force on us) and will delete the game permanently after that. This is only the second game in about 275 that I will actually remove from my Steam Library.

As a single player FPS, this game is about 15 hours of non-stop fun. I'm sure it's even more fun if you're familiar with the three movie series: Alien, Predator and Alien vs. Predator, and their sequels. The game shows a lot of respect for the lore established in those movies and expands a little on it.

The aliens and predators look great. The music and sound effects are spot on. I found it impressive how the storylines of the three campaigns (marine, alien, predator) are nicely interwoven.

As you can imagine, the way to play each campaign is completely different depending on the species you play and their weapons and skills, but each campaign even has a different HUD that really fits the species, which adds to an already immersive experience.

You can adjust the difficulty to fit your play style and your (in)experience with FPS games. You can play the game with a gamepad, but I'm not used to the 'twin stick' thing where one stick moves your character and another stick moves the camera. So I quickly switched to mouse and keyboard, which was a lot smoother for me. You can bind keyboard keys for each species seperately in the options menu.

I haven't tried multiplayer but I gather from other reviews that multiplayer for this game is dead, so if you're looking for a good multiplayer FPS, I suppose you need to look elsewhere. This also means that steam achievement completionists will have a hard time because 12 of the 50 achievements require multiplayer action.

All in all, I'd recommend this game to anyone who reads this because that means you're at least remotely interested in FPS games or in the movies this game is based upon. But since three single player campaigns of about 5 hours each is all you'll get out of it, I would advise against paying full price for the game and instead waiting for it to be on sale.

This game is one huge letdown after another. I think a voiced protagonist was a terrible choice but that's just a personal opinion. But the game has been so dumbed down that it's not even a Fallout game anymore. It's certainly not an RPG anymore. There are no real choices to be made. Even when you can click "yes" or "no" in dialog, both options result in exactly the same outcome every single time. Also, they removed the entire skill system and turned the perks into generic stat boosters for the most part.

I've been a fan of Fallout since the very first game way back in 1997 and I pre-ordered Fallout 4 as soon as it was possible. That's a mistake I won't make again.

This game is essentially a remake of the 1991 Sega classic "Fatal Labyrinth", which is also available on Steam. Quest of Dungeons adds a few elements to the formula, some good and some bad, but doesn't really aspire to improve it so the few flaws that Fatal Labyrinth had are still here in Quest of Dungeons.

This game adds more loot and a store to sell and buy items. But most of the loot is just junk to sell anyway, and there is nothing worth buying except healing potions. Quest of Dungeons also tries to add personality to the player character and the monsters, but fails completely. The character says random things like "This game was made with C++" and "This game was made with OpenGL". The monsters say equally weird things, according to another reviewer they are mostly references to movies that have nothing to do with the context of this game.

Like in Fatal Labyrinth, the only way to heal between battles is to run around a bit. In this game the healing is a lot slower so the running around just to heal yourself gets even more tedious after a while.

I quit playing soon after I got to the 4th floor of the dungeon. There you encounter monsters who steal stuff from your inventory. This is another "feature" that was present in Fatal Labyrinth as well. But again, Quest of Dungeons makes an annoying feature worse. In Fatal Labyrinth the monster sometimes stole an item from you, in this game they almost always succesfully steal from you, so you see the few good items you didn't sell before going to the 4th floor disappear from your inventory at an extremely frustrating rate. And you can't get stolen items back from the monster after killing it. Within a few minutes I lost the three keys I had in my inventory (the most important items in Quest of Dungeons and not easy to find) and the better part of my gold. This is such a cheap mechanism to make a game more difficult (and Quest of Dungeons has a few of those) that it made me decide to quit playing.

Conclusion: the premise of the game is good but we saw that 25 years ago already in Fatal Labyrinth. And Fatal Labyrinth is still the better of the two games: it's longer, more balanced, less frustrating and annoying, it doesn't have the weird and even childish atmosphere and it has a "continue" system (if you play it via the emulator that comes with the Sega Megadrive Classics / Sega Genesis Classics collections, you can even save at any point). So I don't recommend this game but if you're looking to play a game just like it that doesn't have its flaws, I recommend Fatal Labyrinth instead.
