Spend $15 a month gladly, bought the supporter pack gladly, bought the half year subscription gladly. The interactions with other players are hilarious. The community is why I am here and I will gladly pay $15 or w/e for the entertainment these people provide.

Saw a guy in Meduli trying to sing a song for a gold. After asking around for awhile someone finally pops up and says "I'll pay you 5 gold to STFU." After a blessed moment of silence Mr. Guy asks for his 5 gold. Mr. Someone proceeds to pull out his dagger, hop over a wall, and scamper away while saying "Oh sh!t, gotta go!".

This game is fantastic. It is difficult to learn and still challenging afterwards, but it is completely worth the investment.

What It's Like

This game is amazing! The combat system is engaging, the community is friendly, and the life skills are a blast. I recommend playing this game with a couple of friends, as most games are better with someone to party with. I really think people should give this game a try!

What They Say

Now for the big aspect that everyone seems to talk about, "Pay to Win". This game currently costs $10 and that grants you access to all content in the game. After you spend your $10 to get access to the game, you have the option to spend real world money to get convenience items that will boost the rate that you can do things.
  • You can buy costumes that give bonuses to EXP gain, fishing speed, horse training, and other such things.
  • You can buy pets that give you EXP bonuses, decreases to durability loss, gather items for you from fallen enemies, and other
    such things.
You can buy a multitude of items that, as stated previously, make things convienent. That said, almost everything that you can buy in the cash shop can be purchased with in-game currency. You do not have to spend real world money to get these items. If you want to purchase these items, cancel the mandatory subscribtion that you pay for WoW or FFXIV and use it to fund this game. This game definitely has a pay for convenience aspect, but it's not a barrier to any content.

There are some items that you can get only using in-game currency or by farming and upgrading. You can't buy in-game currency with real world money. You can sell the items that you buy from the cash shop in the in-game marketplace for a fair amount of in-game currency, but it's not a realistic way of making in-game money. For example, one of the better items in the game sell for over 4,000,000,000 in-game currency. One of the highest selling items in the cash shop, a costume that is worth $35 real world, sells for 111,111,111 in-game currency. You would have to spend of $1000, real world, in order to buy an item that you can purchase in game or get by farming and upgrading.

The Conclusion

In the end, there is no denying that this game has some big pay for convenience features. Most MMOs do. A game is a way for a company to make money and the fact that such a good game is only $10 means that there needs to be an alternative form of revenue, a cash shop. Try the game, make up your own mind, and if you find that this game is pay for convenience and not pay to win please write a review. This game is too good to have such terrible reviews and a lot of people will not give it a try because of that.

(>^-^)> Thumbs up!!

I've been playing Portal Knights for a few weeks now and I've really enjoyed my experience with this game. I mostly play with my boyfriend, who is not much into gaming, yet most of the time he gets pulled into it for hours. It has it's bugs, such as the issue with water settling, that cause the game to have problems. However, even with these issues I still find myself enjoying the entire experience.

I love the simplicity of the game style, it allows for easy understanding of mechanics and controls. The content of the game, at this time, is really large in scope of exploration. With the persistent characters that can travel to different universes, you really have an unlimited supply of resources that allows for any number of creations. It feels like a game that wants you to enjoy it and not just overwhelm you with a challenging experience.

I really enjoy this game and I think that most casual gamers will! So give it a try, support the development and enjoy a simple, yet serious game.
