Let's put it that way. If you are a die hard Resident Evil fan, you probably haven't skipped that one already and if you have, well you should reconsider getting it as it is an important title fr the whole franchise.

If you are not a keen Resident Evil fan but have already played titles such as RE 5 or RE 6, you should know that the controls and in particular the moving mechanics of the playable characters are kind of weird in this day and age, it is one of the very pioneers of the over-shoulder third-person shooter so do not expect refined over-shoulder camera, it's not something that is as responsive or as smooth as some 7th and 8th generation titles such as RE Revelation or RE2 Remake. I recommend that you watch some videos on YouTube first to get a grasp of the controls. Maybe it would be a better experience for you guys and gals to try it with an XBOX 360 controller rather that using mouse and keyboard.

For non-Resident Evil avid followers, I'd say the story is entertaining as hell, but it's the "wacky" entertaining type, it is just fun and not necessarily a very thought provoking story. The lore is okay and the art direction is decent enough to keep you following the narrative line. The graphics production quality are from somewhere around 2005 but it has aged pretty well. Thought, that's not an optimized PC port and you might have some problems running the game on 60 FPS using its default setting.

But the game is full of playable content : A rather long 10-hour ish story line that is not half-assed or rushed, two completely different stories that are unlocked after beating the game on any difficulty one of which revolves around the adventures of a supporting character that takes place parallel to the main storyline and lasts about 5 short chapters (4 to 5 hours) and another story mission lead by the same supporting character that is a single long quest with the core games mechanics. Then you'll have another extra mode that is called The Mercenaries and lets you play as one of your favorite characters from the core game and it's basically some pure over-shoulder shooter fun in 4 different sceneries whit 5 playable characters with various skill sets.

Oh man! If you haven't played it yet and you really dig games such as Destiny and The Division , Lo and Behold the ancestor of all Looter-Shooters, the one and the only "Borderlands" ... The game is a true labor of love and the graphics has aged really well.

This franchise is not supposed to represent some bran new gameplay mechanics, not in the multiplayer at least. Just conservatively recycling everything it has been having since Modern Warfare 2. Black Ops II was kind of a step forward, but this one...

The game design structure is unbelievably well-managed and fortunately, the game is a neat example of "How one can execute their ideas into the virtually living entities!". From the theoretical point of view, the game follows a simple tower/hero-defense pattern : During the daylight, get prepared for the nocturnal attack of the Werewolves; buy weapons; set traps; use the gathered skill points to equip your character with perks and yet you're ready to start a nightmarish night! But in fact, practically, it's not that simple at all cause there are really plenty lot of important things to take care of before embarking on the Werewolves killing adventure. Ladies and Gentlemen, please be assured that "every" game design element will effect your performance during the night! You're not about to face a game, as said, "with minor RPG elements" as the game provides a magnificent hierarchy of character power-ups that reminds you of classic old school RPGs while at the same time regards the fact that the game is being represented to post-modern gamers. And that means the hierarchy system avoids any sort of sophisticated rules of choosing this ability instead of that. The player's first, second even third mistake is not their last mistake as the game gives you the opportunity to think over your strategy once again.

...

In addition to the strategy planning, "Sang-Froid" is also a 3rd-person tactical p.o.v. which make you confront with the enemy with melee or ranged weapons. During the 3rd-person experience you'll have to protect the playable character while defending specified buildings or areas and that's when two style of game-play, tower and hero defense, are mixed up with each other in order to give birth to a brand new mechanism style of survival-horror.

...

By the first glance, the story may seem like a simple "Tale of Werewolves" but as the narration progresses, other twist will save the story from being a linear tale to multiple story lines told in parallel channels in order to add a deep sense of suspense and excitement to the core tale. The story is often narrated by cut-scene in the form of two/three-personage dialogs and sometimes by illustrated cut scenes all of which are empowered with charming voice acting.

The music is perhaps a part of game-play as it won't let you down during the night battles. It's so motivating to hear a well-chosen merry Celtic/Francophone-Canadian Folk* songs during a face-to-face battle with a Grand Werewolf as it brings hope into your heart letting you chop the Wolf fella in two. That's not the only thing one can mention about the voices in the game. Perhaps you'll admit this after you've hear the warming voice of the tutorials narrator. The sound effects design of the game will make you feel yourself in a real forest of frozen maple trees, near a hut with a smoking chimney, under the pale light of the full moon playing hide-and-seek as the dark clouds pass by and eventually a cry of a wolf in a distance...

...

To conclude, I'd like to state that fortunately "Sang-Froid : A Tales of Werewolves" is based on a great story-line which is followed by appealing presentation, making the excellent game-play a much better experience.
