I purchased this game along with The Wolf Among Us and Game of Thrones Telltale during a sweet Humble Bundle sale. I beat the first five episodes of Game of Thrones before moving onto and beating the Wolf Among Us. I had the least expectations for Tales of the Borderlands, and I wasn't really excited to play this. After playing the first two episodes I felt my original opinion was solidified and I wrote this game off compared to the others. But when I completed this game, something strange happened, something that didn't happen with any of the other Telltale games. I felt sad. I was sad because such an incredible adventure was over. I had the same feeling when I finished Lost and the Breaking Bad. That such a unique and entertaining experience was over.

I never expected that from this game. The first two episodes were good. but they had a campy, over the top, this is just a funny story and nothing else feel to it. The next three episodes continued this style but improved on it, and the game took a serious turn in episode 4. Telltale was really given the opportunity to paint their creative strokes with this game, as can be seen with the fate of certain characters and environments from previous Borderlands games.

Episode 4 and 5 of Tales from the Borderlands have got to be the best episodes of any Telltale game I have ever played. Telltale really knows how to ramp up a story as it draws near its conclusion, but they definitely ramped up the humour and pop culture references as well. There has never been a funnier scene in video gaming than the finger bang shootout in Episode 4. Moments like these come out of nowhere and just catch you off guard with it's ridiculousness and sillyness.

It's not just the excellently choreographed scenes and the silly fun that makes this game, but the characters as well. If I had to choose which character I liked the least, it would be Sasha, and I still liked her. Gortys is one of the cutest robots of all time, and makes a great tag-team in dialogue with Loaderbot. Fiona and Rhys are tremendously likeable, and also have great dialogue with each other. They both have a condescending tone towards each other but as the game progresses and they gain rapport, the condescending tone between them is a way they poke fun at each other as opposed to a legitimate skeptisim and untrustworthiness.

I really hope the story of Rhys, Fiona and co. doesn't end here. I want to see these awesome characters go on more sweet vault hunts and adventures. I'm also interested to see what Telltale will do, considering some of the choices made in Episode 5. No doubt in my mind that they're very capable of making another masterpiece just like this game, that will mess with your emotions during and after the completion of the game.

You rock Telltale.

10/10

One of the biggest weasels in gaming history. I don't know if weasels have a hierarchy but if they did...he'd be king weasel.
