Looks like you just ran into a bit of bad luck being new to the game. It's pretty easy to jump to a new instance if someone in one is giving you problems in one. For the most part everyone is friendly. I've put 7 hours solo into the game so far and have yet to run into someone that wasn't helpful or just wanted a friendly duel.
I'd say unless you are set against it, give the game another try before you hit the 2 hour mark and see if things are better for you. If not, the game may just not be your cup of tea and best to refund or wait the game out and see what the future brings.
Simply a case of GIT GUD.
I joined PVP as soon as I reached the first shrine and still managed to beat higher level players with a fresh character.
Just because you're an entitled scrub doesn't mean that the game is crap.
