It's not perfect but I can easily disregard the minor flaws and the first crash I experienced after 12 hours of gameplay, for now I really just want to finish the newgame+ mode and an Elderborn 2 to hopefully come in a near future.
I beat the campaign in the Elderborn difficulty, that's 3/4 on the game scale of difficulty and it was brutal, BUT SO WAS I, with a grin through my face like a slash that only my ears could stop. Hammering hardcore ennemies each of whom can kill you if you don't make the best use of your skillset is pure pleasure and blowing their heads with an angry metal music playing in the background is viceral. During my run I made some mistakes and lost myself not paying enough attention to the environment so I literally skipped one stage of the second level for a harder one and I probably lost an hour trying to beat what I was not supposed to beat. I have no regrets though. I could take that experience to ♥♥♥♥♥ about the level design instead but I refuse to do so because the maps design are actually quite varied. start on a linear path, then it opens up to a city with its different quarter to freely explore and the game close on a bunch of arenas. I really like the environment which is some kind of mix between what I imagine to be the black pyramid of Nagash from Warhammer and Stargate SG-1. Elderborn has plenty of really good ideas, not the kind of ideas solely designed to serve a commercial marketing purpose but more about ideas that serve the long run for a greater player experience. The weapons is a good example, there are 10 of them and 9 will remain relevant throughout the game, this is especailly true once you reach the newgame+. I also really like the achievments system, achievments are fully integrated to the game, they play a role not only for fun and additionnal mini challenges which allow for a freedom of choice on how to beat them but they also directly reward you ingame to progress faster toward unlocking your build. This is tangible added value for gamers and I love it, the more you progress the more powerful you feel but you'll never be overpowered unless you beat it at least like 5-6 times in which case it's fair to say that you deserve to be OP, at the cost of your real life that is---. I feel like I could write a book about this game but I won't, not here anyway, that is why Elderborn is my favorite game from the year 2020 after Doom Eternal. 9/10

Also, who cares if there's no final boss in the last level?? ♥♥♥♥ customers standardization!
