Strange how time flies
Here are the funnies on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/SideZeo/featured
And I occasionally stream too: https://www.twitch.tv/sidezeo

It's strange how quickly time seems to fly by these days
I used to be a Source-Artist, associated with that community and those people, then I joined an Arma Unit and became a squad-leader there, then I started studying 3D-Modelling and learnt how to use software such as Autodesk Maya, Adobe Substance and Zbrush... and now I stream from time to time on Twitch too...

You never really know what's coming for you until it's too late

Where to even begin with this honest to god piece of art? Ultrakill, despite still being Early Access, features gameplay that is one of the few modern cases of TRUE FREEDOM, in terms of expression, challenge and skill. From turning a bug like punchine one's shotgun pellets to make them faster, into an actual gameplay mechanic, to making a gameplay loop that is so unbelievably tight and well thoughtout, that you can play for 20 hours and still not discover everything it has to offer, Ultrakill is some of the most fun I've had in recent times.

To explain a bit more in detail, the game, like I said, gives you complete freedom as to how you approach any encounter and makes itself as mechanically open as can be. A few Examples: That coin you can throw with the Revolvers Secondary Form? Try shooting it with something other than the Revolver like the Railgun for example. See those Beams that Maurice likes to occasionally shoot at you? Try throwing a coin his way. See the Shotgun core your secondary fire ejects? Try shooting it. These are just ones that I've recently discovered through other people's gameplay, but it immediately reminded me of why I love games like Ultrakill, MGR and Furi. From the outside the main gameplay loop seems simple, basic, like something you can easily keep an eye on. But as you get deeper and deeper into the carnage, you learn just how well thought-out it is. It asks you to experiment, to vary your style, to break the chains and think outside the box. The toolset it gives you: Magnets on the Nailgun, the coin on your Revolver, a Timestopper on the Rocketlauncher, an explosive core on the shotgun... these all seem perhaps a bit strange at first glance. But like I said, experiment a bit. You'll be shocked to find out the shenanigans you can get up to.
Also the game has a grappling hook

And well... Ultrakill's not afraid to kick your ass. Admittedly, it can kinda seem daunting, to realize just how HIGH the skill-ceiling can go in this game. Again, think back to something seemingly simple like Rocketjumping in TF2: Looks easy at first, but the more you learn about it, the more you realize just how far up the ceiling goes and how little you truly know about it. Ultrakill gives me that same feeling. Every time I get my ass handed to me by Gabe, or just the regular enemies on Violent, I think to myself that I can still get better.
Oh, you can beat the game reliably on Violent? Well then try to S Rank everything.
Oh you S Ranked everything? Well then its time to go for P Rank.
Oh you got all P Ranks? Good luck with the Secret Bosses then.
Oh you beat the Secrets? Well... can you do it faster?
Oh you speedran it? Well... can you do it without getting hit?

This game pushes and pushes you to be better, more brutal, more efficient, faster and stronger. The Gameplay at first can seem overly hectic and brutalizing, but once you get into that zone, it'll feel like second Nature. If you ever wanted to relive that 'click' that you had while playing DOOM or DOOM: ETERNAL, then Ultrakill is for you.

Oh and lastly, despite this game being fast and very skill based, please don't be shy to start out on Standard or one of the easier ones if you find it to be too much for you. I know that I often feel completely exhausted after two hours of this game, so if you're not ready yet for Violent, or you feel you're not physically capable of that, then there's no shame in going for one of the easier ones. I'd like to call myself a "tRuE gAmER", having played the aformentioned DOOM and Eternal on Ultraviolence, MGR on Hard, DUSK on its highest difficulty ect ect ect and even I get completely crapped on by Violent in Ultrakill.
Gitting Gud is one thing, but first you should find yourself having fun. Becoming Skilled comes naturally then.
