After ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around for 600 hours I can say with utmost confidence that this is an Ed Edd and Eddy-like game. It's really refreshing seeing a successful goofy shooter that follows both in TF2 and Left 4 Dead's footsteps. This game is a cartoon, one who's higher difficulties will have you shaking and pissing and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and screaming, blood-brother connections with random schmucks on the internet. PvP is dead, the PvE here is absolutely phenomenal. There is so much movement tech and really fun ideas. Slides, dodges, crouch slides, knife slides--blowing up brains from any target on the map, magic staffs that knock brick ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on their ass, there's grenade guantlets, grenade pills that bounce, single shell shotguns, chainaxes, chainswords, and of course the "box".

Gameplay is incredible and addictive, new maps should be added to give more spice. But the world feels immersive grimy and visceral. While the main "story" is a bit of a joke, the dialogue performances here are some of the most varied and impressive voice acting I've seen in ages. I think I checked the files and narrowed thousands of voice lines, the VA's are passionate hilarious and the dialogue between the characters is always fun to listen to. You find little secret interactions triggered by grouping together certain personalities. There are fully voice acted masculine and feminine lines for the same personality type, different accents performances, deliveries. The characters here are very snippy (which I enjoy) but what I love about the core writing is that none of the playable personalities feel like "bad people". They all seem like good souls caught up in the imperium of mankind's deathmarch. I love hearing about their lore and relationships with eachother.

I highly recommend this game but with the caveat of fatshark not knowing how to give players the proper agency. It was 3 months on a crafting update after all. There's still unnecessary rng. The way you get weapons is through slot machines. There are predatory financial practices in here that should not be focused on and instead focus should be applied to fixing bugs and creating higher difficulties with more challenges. The amount of player synchronization and teamwork created here really lays the groundwork for something special. I hope fatshark can stick through with it and keep up this goofy fun and bone-crunchingly difficult game.
