Giving this a positive review though it's mixed overall.

There's changes made to the series that I really love and I'm having a good time with it, but yeah, the people talking about the optimization aren't overstating it. If you're involved enough in this genre of game and don't mind potato settings like me then you can see an exciting game here, but it doesn't look or run that great at the moment. :(

Fun as hell with a group of friends, developers are still dumping lots of content, DLC is just cosmetic stuff you buy to support the game and has no effect on gameplay.

Seriously half the reason this game has great reviews is because of the business model and respecting the community. The other half is that they made a really solid, replayable game that makes those other things all the more refreshing.

Just a great game! Super intuitive UI, all the factions play way differently, tons of great features that will satisfy a Civ fan but still provide a wholly unique experience. Definitely pick this up if you love 4X!
