Oh man, The Callisto Protocol... what a hot mess this is.

Maybe i went into this with my Expectations way too high, seeing as i was looking forward to it. Now that i played through the Game (which is barely 9 Hours, the other logged Hour was testing for Performance) i can say that it wasn't quite the Experience i was hoping for.

Some Negative Points first:

-Some small Sections of the Game were either not well thought out or were simply too predictable, taking away some of the Atmosphere and subsequently the Experience.
- Melee Combat felt very clunky and unresponsive at times, often meaning an untimely demise
- Weapon Upgrades overall felt completely useless, except for Magazine Upgrades. The Baton, f.e., when fully Dmg upgraded barely hit harder than a wet Pool Noodle, even when using the Heavy Attack
- The Tactical Pistol is absolutely useless and i will die on that Hill. It doesn't deal a lot of Dmg and barely has Stagger Potential. The only thing good about it is, that the Fire Button can be held to shoot "automatically"
- Weapon Switching is atrocious, up to the Point where it's borderline impossible to switch during fights. I'm not sure how well Quick Switching works for this as i want to switch to specific Weapons in certain Situations, so correct me if that works way better
- Mini-Bosses one-shotting you from Full Health on Medium Difficulty. Yeah. You can dodge the Attacks, obviously, but refer to the Second Point for that
- The Health Bar is kind of lackluster. It goes from Green to Red and back and that's about it. You never really get a feel for how healthy you really are, which is very important in this kind of Game
- Performance. Performance. PERFORMANCE. Do not take the listed Specs as a Be-All-End-All kind of thing because it's absolutely not.

Now for some Positive Points:

- The Game still looked very good, even on Low Settings
- This may contradict the first Negative Point, but there was some decent Variety on Scenery and Gameplay Elements and the Flow of it felt kind of Natural, even giving you some sort of Freedom on how to approach a Situation
- Story and the Plot-Twist aren't bad at all, although maybe a bit predictable at Times.
- The Creepy Crawlys in some Chests are a cool little addition
- Loved the whole Weapon printing Thing. Feels very unique to the Game Universe

Unfortunately, the Negatives far outweigh the Positives in my Opinion, so i sadly cannot recommend The Callisto Protocol as it is right now. I do sincerely hope the Devs turn this around however.

Lackluster (Intro) Story, odd Main Menu, Controller Rumble can't be turned off (personal thing, ignore if it doesn't bother you), Laser Pointer Mechanic not working correctly, weird Enemys that are way too tanky and can become basically unkillable after biting you twice (going from Regular -> Crawly Boi -> Buff Vamp ripping out your heart) without the Game hinting at it (yes, the Description says "evolving Enemies" but not in an immediate sense, think Resident Evil style) and somewhat wonky controls make this game a little rough.

Aside from being a little bit of a Negative Nancy here, there is definitely a start of what could become a good Game. I like the Run Customization Option and the Setting itself is also not bad.

However as of now, i wouldn't personally recommend it.
I might come back to it once it's more "refined" since i do love me some Survival Horror Games.

Best of Luck/Wishes to the Developer

You better prepare that Dodge button because you're going to need it. Trust me.

Sanics the name, speeds my game. This game has lots of speeds.

10/10

Actual Review:

So i bought Strider when it was on sale, not exactly knowing what i would get myself into as i haven't played the first one on SNES and it seemed good looking enough to buy it.

Basically, what you get is a fast-paced Metroidvania game with somewhat advanced graphics, a simple plot and cool artstyle with everything set in the near future.
As always in Metroidvania games, you start off pretty weak and overall without much tools, the further you progress, the more you get. What's interesting is the fact that you need to adapt to different enemies on the fly, use dashing, kunais and your special ability to get rid of enemies or just do super cool stuff in general and most of that in one fight, kind of my style especially that you can attack as fast as you can push dat button (which can result, more often than not, in boss fights not even lasting 10 seconds)

That's pretty much everything i have to say here as it's a solid game and i liked it very much, definitely worth the bucks (of course it feels kinda short if you rush through in under 4 hours for the achievement but still) and i recommend it.

---This is my point of view for Resident Evil Revelations 2, opinions may differ.---

As a Resident Evil fan, i felt like i had to buy this game (i liked Revelations 1 so why not) and as far as the campaign goes: I'm not disappointed!

Gameplay and Feel

It's basically Revelations 1 with better graphics and a lot more atmosphere. Having the option to switch between characters, enabling you to use their unique perks for strategic gameplay (Natalia op as fk), is actually kinda refreshing.
A big plus is the atmosphere: Very darkish and eerie, felt really great for me. It's not scary per se, but does a great job to make you think there is something around the corner most of the time. Soundwise, the guns seem a little weird, but that's bearable and overall, it's nice and moody. The second type of enemys in Barrys part of the first episode are basically a certain RE4 enemy reborn with a different style to kill them, not too easy unless you use Natalia and your brain, but a nice touch to it.

One thing i didn't understood though was, why Barry referred to the enemys as Uroboros. Those were normal Zombies at first with the exception of the reborn Regenerators he was fighting and not humans that got something implanted

Technical Stuff

Stable FPS (minor drops when tabbing back in, as usual) through most parts of the game with a middle class rig (CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 750k Quad Core | GPU: R9 280 Gaming 3g | RAM: 8GB), Controller capable (though i prefer Mouse and Keyboard), generally no problems whatsoever. Minor throwdown is the lack of Co-Op, but i believe that will be fixxed sooner or later and i would be okay with it even if they don't fix it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Atmosphere
  • Barry
  • Enemy Design
  • Nice Cliffhanger
Cons
  • Lack of Co-Op
  • No Jill Sandwich
  • Short Episode 1
Re-Cap

Looking forward to the next episodes, enjoyed the time i spent playing and i'm going to try the raid mode asap, i will be editing my review as soon as i did. Would be great if the story continues like this with, hopefully, a nice plot twist at the end, but i would recommend getting a somewhat good rig (at least as "poweful" as mine).
