Note: I had alot more hours on the Gaijin launcher when the game first launched. I went to return to it after seeing it on Steam.

To my dismay they've removed official support for the Lone Fighters game mode, it is still available as a custom mode, but the games shift away from officially supporting it is grim, and sad. It was very fun, and the best this game had to offer. It's a shame because the gameplay is similar to Red Orchestra and that was a massive hook for me. The mechanic Lone Fighters had of having to select a different squad member when you died encouraged you to upgrade all your units. And have different loadouts. Most importantly, there were no bots.

The squad mode in this game is not good, full stop. It's the equivalent to keeping a bot in CSGO alive for an extra re spawn. The AI are terrible shots and even worse at listening to orders. They exist to die to (what I imagine Gaijin hopes) inflate the ego of you and other players and keep player retention. The problem is these bots don't even look cool doing it, beyond janky and goofy, just terrible stiff bots, you couldn't even begin to imagine that you shot a player.

Each squad is commanded by one player, they can switch between the bots at will, and choose to spawn on one of they die. The problem is, as mentioned above. They are terrible at everything, having higher star troops doesn't alleviate this either. For example, with the Lone Fighters mode you could make an AT class in a squad, and when you died you'd switch to it. Playing Squads you have to tell the Goobers to defend an area, pray they sit there longer than 5 seconds or stay in cover, and hopefully, just maybe they will stay alive long enough for a tank to arrive. Also there is NO shot the AI will ever take out a tank themselves. I'm borderline positive they can't use AT.

Essentially you just spawn in and you can kiss every single other troop in your squad goodbye, they're a complete write-off. Left alive by happenstance or the code at least telling them to prone or something.

The Lone Fighters mode can still be played in the custom game mode section, and I recommend giving it a try. The Squads mode is beyond a flop and I hate to see them pushing it as the "Good" mode. And beyond that the only mode. Because it isn't, at all. It blows ass cheeks.

fun game but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ even with fast turns on rounds take forever

huge amount of time required to play, not even like a "git good" type thing like it just genuinely takes forever

this compounded with that aside from just killing the enemy you have to physically walk around the map and pick ♥♥♥♥ up to not lose makes it take ages

xcom type vibe with your troops tho, they're ya bois and can die, get injuries etc.

This game is legit just a more modern version of Combat Arms. It follows every F2P shooter model that for some reason is pumped out of South Korea and I can only assume this one is backed by Nexon too. It's a fairly basic FPS, it has a really lame over the top cinematic tutorial that tries to make the game way more cooler then it is but fails at even being cool and is just annoying.

Seriously though it has pretty much the same menu as Combat Arms, and has the same business model where you "rent guns". For some reason though as far as I can tell you can buy every gun permanent for free, you don't really have to rent the guns, you can just save up until you can buy them perma. Which makes me wonder why you even have the option to rent. Only explanation I have is that the shop is the one from Combat Arms, because like I mentioned it's almost the exact same menu. Which would explain the rental option despite the business model currently not being geared towards you paying for permanent equipment.

Overall this game is Combat Arms, if you want to see what the games business model will be like in the future look at Combat Arms because that is what this game is. This was obviously some attempt to take that game, put a new coat of paint on it, and rake in a few more years worth of revenue.
