Try FC2 ?
Steam shop - Far Cry 2 FE

Game is completely cured with one easy install of Multi-Fix.
Multi-Fix for Far Cry 2 [github.com]

The game is a serious challenge until players learn how to deal with the problems
presented. - The demands placed on the player are sometimes extreme, but there's
always a way to succeed with observation planning and the tools provided.

- What FC2 offers is a deep sense of realism, great gun play, near total immersion
without distraction and complete independent freedom. A prized combination that
few other titles (even new titles) can provide. That's why it has a strong following
after all these years and there are still well over 100 new players checking it out
every month - on steam alone.

I believe that beyond the basic issues that the game is just too much of a challenge
for some, but that's what intrigues and attracts serious players and that's what makes
success more rewarding. - Not getting killed in this game is a serious accomplishment,
attained only through dedication and work.

Great Mods for better gaming

Game play is enhanced with reduction of bullet sponginess, better balanced mechanics,
improved GFX and other features in Redux, Realism+ - or the Combo mod Realism+ Redux
also an easy install.

PC Gamer review of Realism+ Redux

BigTinz on the new Redux+Realism+

"This is an extensive mash up of Tom's Realism+ and my Redux mod.

I recommend everyone here give it a shot. It's truly the best way to experience FC2, IMO.

Only intended to be played on the Infamous Redux difficulty.

The user MUST start a new game with any mods to have a steady experience.

A full feature list available on Mod DB and Nexus page.

Off the top of my head:

- Store changes from Realism+
- Machete from Realism+, but NOT the instant stealth kill
- Art and graphic improvements from Realism+ (Black AR and Wood FAL from Redux)
- Holster is an updated version from Redux, which now doesn't holster after healing
- The weapon properties are a mix from both (more flamethrower enemies ala Redux)
- Longer respawning outposts from Realism+
- Animations from Redux
- Anonymous merc from Realism+ (originally by scubrah, I think)
- Most other stuff is Redux, I guess?
- Infamous Redux difficulty is still recommended, and what the mod was balanced for.
- Moves a rescue buddy from the buggy Sediko to the train car "snake bite" rescue from Redux (originally by Lasercar)

It's really a 50/50, I think.

Thank you so much! - I hope you get some helpful info and a bit of inspiration from
the read. There's so much subtle nuance to the game that it's easy to overlook many
of the unusual opportunities available that can enhance the experience.

Thank you for the detailed Far Cry 2 guide. I really appreciate your efforts which got me interested in the second game. I have played the first and the third games when the third game came out, but I have never played the second game. I do not know if I need to install any patches and mods before playing. I have not read the guide yet though. I will read the whole guide when I am free.

Kenny (1 of 2)

I have no connection whatsoever to Ubisoft or any other commercial org.
except for the fact that I'm just another abused customer. FC 3, 4, 5 and
Skyrim plus a few other games are now blocked because Ubi refuses to
accept the fact that I have a new system and email. What I do have is 30
years of game design, building, testing and reviewing dating back to Wolf3D
(1992) through Doom 1 and 2, Hexen, Quake 2 and Unreal 2 (1998) and
many reviews of fan made missions for the above including the Thief series
and the standard vanilla and modded Far Cry series through FC4.

Missing Vaas isunderstandable. I played it steadily for well over three years.
It's too bad Vaas didn't have a larger role in the game.

I just resented all the ridiculous and senseless tasks required just to get properly
outfitted, and all the menu maintenance throughout the game. - Selling the junk
you have to collect and trade for cash, managing exp, skill trees and crafting.
That's not why I play FPSs.
