First of all, i started playing this game in 2018 on the PS4 when Alibi and Maestro came out. Over the next 4 years until 2021 i played about 900 hours on the PS4 then got a pc and switched over. I play on and off on the pc because i dont have as many to play with as i did on the PS4. I hit plat 2 on PS4 and plat 3 on pc on the the old ranked system. I wanted to get higher on pc but shortly after they released ranked 2.0 which imo defeated the purpose of the ranked system. You start from the lowest rank and go your way up towards the top and it resets every season. The main problem i have is that the system more focuses on played match count instead of won match count. Of course when you lose you lose points but it is way more forgiving than the first ranked system. When i played ranked matches in the first system i was actually a bit stressed if we started losing the match. I was playing ranked more with my friends than i did on my own and when i was on my own i just played unranked. When i first got plat 3 i was actually excited about it because it was a way more punishing grind than it is currently. But with the current ranked system i just play a ranked match like i would play an unranked match because i know that if i lose i wont lose much. I dont get the same satisfaction as i did when ranking up. In the new system ranking up literally has no purpose imo. There have been people who were hardstuck gold/plat etc. in the old system but got diamond or something in the first season the new ranking system came out because all you had to do was just play enough matches. For example a youtuber named VarsityGaming, he was a hardstuck plat for loads of seasons but since the new system came out is getting champion nearly every season. I am not saying tha he doesnt deserve it or he is bad, in fact i always thought he deserved a higher rank for how much time he put in the game. But what is the point for a ranked gamemode if there isnt a grind for it? I mainly played this game for its one of its kind gameplay and ranked mode. I was always playing to get better so i could get to a higher rank. That was what kept me playing the game. Now since that grind is gone i just play the game when i want to feel that uniqueness of the game once in a while. If the ranked system ever gets changed back to old style i will probably start playing properly again and change my review. I am not saying the old system was perfect , it definitely had flaws but it was way way better than this current crap of a system we have now. That is main issue i have with the game at the moment. There are loads more bad things about the game but if i can get the old feel of grinding ranked then i wont mind the other flaws. Also if you are a new player there is a very steep learning curve but if you are enjoying the game there is no point to stop playing. We will stop playing almost every game we have played (either after 10-20 hours or even 5k hours), so might as well play the game while you are still enjoying it. No matter how much i hate the new system i can still enjoy a few matches now and again but as i said i probably wont be playing it as my main game for a while. If you are still hesitant on buying the game, i suggest just trying it out when on sale or even a free weekend. You will probably get ♥♥♥♥ on in the first 100 to 200 hours but the satisfaction of outplaying someone else with just gamesense is just unbeatable in a game like this. After getting past the learning curve and learning the game, you will be so relaxed just playing the gaem and doing everything with muscle memory. When i transitioned to the pc i still could outgun loads of people with my terrible aim just because i had better gamesense than the enemy. Anyway no matter how ♥♥♥♥ the game has become it is still one of a kind and should be experienced at least once.
