Let me start by saying, this game is not for everyone. This game is going to beat you, drop you, slice you and turn you into a pancake. It's hard, but that's one of the best parts. If you like those feelings of being challenged and having to learn and adapt, leading to victory and that amazing feeling you get from earning it, this game will give you that. Do you want a simple to follow medieval story with some fantasy elements thrown in? Move on... This is a classic RPG setup. The story is found in papers, characters, item/weapon etc. descriptions, cutscenes with little to no dialogue and by just plain exploring. This story is rich and fascinating but takes effort and dedication to understand it at times. The payoff is well worth it. Do you like quest markers and linear progression? MOVE ON- this game has a lot of freedom, and no directional markers to stop you from entering a higher level zone where everything will one shot you. if you're good enough, you can take the later zones on immediately and level faster. Want a tutorial to explain all the little statuses and minimalist designed UI instead of doing some research? MOOOOVE ON. This game does not hold your hand, it gives you freedom and discovery in a way that we almost never see in games anymore.

It has its issues with bugs, and the graphics are not the best in the gaming world right now, but that hasn't stopped it from being an absolute blast to play. It has easily become one of my favorite games I've ever had the pleasure to experience. I highly recommended doing research into what you are getting into if you are thinking about playing it. Use youtube, twitch and any other resource to help you decide if this is a game you will enjoy. This games core, is a SOULS game, and while you can create one of 1000's of combinations of builds to play with in-game, turning you into a Demi-god, this game will always find a way to knock you down and make you throw your controller/keyboard onto the ground.

A final note, multiplayer can be a blast. It can at times be an mess with connection issues but when it works, it has given me some really good laughs already. What is better than watching your friend get tossed off a ledge because they rolled into a giants attack? Or when an invader comes in trying to kill your group of mushroom men, wielding dragon faced gloves on their hands which then proceed to surround and smack that invader over and over again to death?
