The devs deliberately seek out anything fun in this casual non competitive game and either remove it completely or nerf it beyond death. The current devs are doing nothing but actively making this game less enjoyable.

Terrible controls and even worse "puzzles"

The game is good, but it does contain a few issues here and there.

Pro:
Atmosphere is great, the visuals are appealing and well designed.
Sound and Music is well done and adds well to the already unsettling atmosphere.
Story is quite interesting and the puzzles are (mostly) crafty and "challenging".
Game Length is okay, around 8hrs, but it depends on your own speed.

Con:
The voice actor is a whiny ♥♥♥♥♥ and honestly does not fit the mood and or scenario too many times. Him being whiny makes sense for the most part, but hes whiny all the time in every scenario. Even when hes talking about normal things that are not unsettling at all he sounds like hes almost crying, because theres a chair in a photograph or similar.
This becomes a bit annoying after a while, but not annyoing enough to break the enjoyment of the game, so not a dealbreaker.

The game relies almost entirely on cheap jump scares, yea they work, they scare/shock you, but its cheap and its quick and it does not really build up tension in the atmosphere it just makes you aware youre gonna be scared for 3 seconds and then just continue on your way.

A lot of puzzles` solutions are not really logical. You cant find a connection or a clue or make an educated guess based on logic because alot of the solutions are just randomly doing stuff that makes no sense or has no connection to anything like randomly photographing the same thing 10 times and only after having it done the 10th time something happens and you get feedback that you apparently did something that helped you progress.
Or you make pictures of something that seems logical but you did it 5 seconds too early but the game does not tell you at all or gives you any kind of feedback so naturally you would think ok that was not the solution and do something else only to find out you did the right thing its just that the game enabled that solutions only a few seconds after you already tried it. Quite annyoning.


All in all the game is not worth 35 bucks imo. 25-28 EUR would be a fair price for this game.
Currently I would suggest to get it on sale.

This DLC is a joke. 40 bucks for a laughable 3hours of campaign and just a single "expedition" that you can repeat over and over with nothing changing; always just the same crap over and over. Thats literally it nothing more. Worth 10 bucks at most.

The game is actually fun but servers are constantly down, so you cant play.

Changed back to negative review after the company endulged in extremely predatory sale behaviour. Dont buy any DLC and buy this game at most on a sale. At around 30-40 bucks.

By far one of the best RPG games out there. A very vivid environment, interesting characters with interesting backstories. Well made dialogues. Active, fun and challenging combat. A lot of variation in classes and ability combos. A lot a lot of choices wether its your character, your troops, your story direction or who you want to join or make you join. The music and fx sounds work well, theyre not big AAA production level but they work and fit to the game and its art style.

I havent played all characters since 1.0 but the only negative aspect before 1.0 was that some classes were noticable weaker and less enjoyable than others. Thats the only negative aspect that comes to mind.

This game does everything wrong what can be done in an MMO at least in the beginning. I couldnt force myself to play any further.

Coming from the New World Beta I felt spoiled having to experience such horrendous UI, even worse Tutorials and non stop cinematics that interrupt the game pace, immersion, and game flow. The crafting system especially after seeing the one of New World was painful to look at. Hardly anything was understandable.

The UI in general felt like it was bombarding you rather than guiding and supporting you, all this stuff that was blinking and popping up and moving around was stressful to say the least.

The combat and graphics are after all really well done. It might be subjective to everyone to like the playstyle of the combat but in general it is of high quality. Very active and engaging combat and of course also visually stunning.

Too bad everything else is bad.

Most of the negative reviews published are just angry rants about the servers. They were ♥♥♥♥ indeed but its not a review about the servers but about the game. Only if the servers issue would still prevail after a long time and its obvious the developer is not putting effort into solving the issue only then you could leave a bad review.

- The game itself aside the server issues in the beginning is very good.
- 25 hrs roughly for the campaign. I finished the campaign 100% all sidequests and 90% of all diary entries within 28 hours.
- Gunplay is very entertaining. Kills feel rewarding in terms of sound design and effects.
- Overall gameplay is very good but not the best.
- The game is definitely recommendable, if it is worth 60 bucks is completely subjective. I personally do not regret the purchase.
- Story is quite boring to me personally, but thats also entirely subjective, theres other people praising it.
- Animations are not AAA, but that doesn´t imply theyre bad. None of what Ive seen looks bad or threw me off in any way.
- World tier progression is very interesting and actually challenging especially around 12/13+. Same applies to Expeditions. Very challenging at least around stage 9+

I would recommend anyone whos really interested to purchase it not right away but within the coming week to give the devs some more time to fix issues. Most of the big and severe issues have been solved already though, so its in a playable state as of now.

Back to the roots. The game brought up the same feeling like good old Total War : Medieval 1 and 2 did.
Might go as far as saying that this Total War is even better than the classics.

If you're used to Total War : Warhammer you might be shocked about the map size, but at least turn ends dont take 5 minutes anymore.
