Your account was VAC banned for one of the following, without any doubt whatsoever in any way.

1. Detecting identifiable cheats in use on the computer/device used while connected to a VAC-secure server with the account(s).
2. Family sharing a VAC protected game and cheating from either account, as described in #1.
3. Sharing the same phone number with other account(s) at the time of a cheating infraction, as described in #1, which was done by any one of the accounts sharing that number.
4. Account Sharing/Buying/Transferring, if the account was used to cheat, as described in #1.
5. An extremely rare, incorrectly applied ban, and if so, VAC will (would have) remove(ed) it automatically soon (by now).

No, you will not be banned because you used the same phone number on a new account, UNLESS cheating takes place while you have that number on that account, of course. If users were allowed to refund games they were banned in, that would be heavily abused..cheat, refund, buy game again, cheat again...rinse and repeat. Not saying you would do this, but many would. Your money is not "down the drain". you can play the game on non VAC servers if any are available, and you can even use the inventory on those servers. Cheats can come bundled with Malware, yes. This is explained in the links you were given in your thread, surely. If your roomate installed cheats on your computer, in the form of Malware or whatever, and then you log on to a VAC server.....the account is flagged for a ban in the future. I am NOT saying your roommate did that, but it is a possible explanation. I can only tell you the possibilities. I will next post a list for you.....wait one, please.

Yes, i was aware of the issues regarding phone sharing, and i know for a fact that the ban wasnt for that, as i dont even family share, much less give my phone number for others to use. I was just triple checking to find out if the vac would sense i had used the number for another purchase of the game, and would auto ban me. good to know that it is not the case. While I do get that VAC is suppossed to be strict and stuff, im just sad i couldnt so much as get a refund, i have 60 mins on the game, most of it spent in settings lol. unfort that i flushed money down the drain for an hour of game time. anothough i was told by my roomate that one of my malware things could have casued an issue. something called an "ESP bot"? It showed up as a trojan on malwarebytes along with some more generic stuff (potent. unwanted registry keys etc etc.) Do you know if that couldve been the issue, or is it just false inoformatoin? what is an 'ESP bot?'
