♥♥♥♥ and stone brother

I am originally a mobile player from before the 1.8/pc release.
when i started initially i just thought it was a mildly interesting td and i wasn't sure how much i'd get into it. The game looks simple and clean at first, then i start to realize how complex it can be.
At first you just have access to a few towers and you can only upgrade them a few times. There's this tease of more as you can see the level up perks on the towers but you can't get to them yet. But as you progress through the research tree, which is very large, your towers get stronger and can do more in some cases. You also start to get the little modifier tiles to boost the power of adjacent towers and the game becomes more interesting.
The game has some grind, you are being asked to do levels and try to get as far as you can in them or to redo them and do x or y objective. I find it fun but it can get repetitive for some.
There are quite a few enemy types and towers that you can build and because some towers are better or worse against certain enemy types you will always need some variety to succeed.
The game started as a f2p mobile game and you may yet feel some remnants of that, however most of the standard free to play mobile game stuff is gone here and some of the changes made on release have transferred back to mobile.
There is cloud/cross-save from pc to mobile and vice versa and if you buy the game here you get the perks on mobile too.
The game runs very well, i was worried at first that it would run better on my phone than my potato laptop but it actually runs smoothly on my potato without any frame trouble at all.
The soundtrack is also very nice and i find myself enjoying the music as i play the levels.

If you got the game for free from humble bundle (like i did) or got it on sale or something but haven't bothered to install it yet, it's worth a shot.

Controls are a bit infuriating sometimes, but they might be better if i had a controller instead of keyboard and mouse.
AI partners are pretty dumb but the sniper crit ability is a good free pop on basically any exposed outsider. Expect to pick them up from time to time as they die.
I'm not a huge fan of how every level is just corridors, like blatantly obvious corridors.

Game doesn't tell you if there is a way to manually save the game, and I haven't found a way to do it yet, so i'm kind of crossing my fingers and hoping the game autosaves every time i finish missions/mess with loadouts.

a long time ago the game was fun and simple. To be honest when they reworked a lot of the mechanics and transitioned it over to a loot crate system I still had fun with the game. I knew the loot crates were cash grabs but if you won games and did well you got good crates. log in daily get a protonium crate. You still get ♥♥♥♥, even at the bare minimum of taking 2 minutes out of your day to load the game up and close it again.

But I came back to the game the other day here after not having played in a long time. The 8v8 or whatever game mode with the towers and the map variety is gone. all that is left is a 5v5 game mode on the same claustraphobic map that i never liked to begin with. It doesn't have towers that you shoot, just cap points you sit on. The enemy base isn't your target, you jut cap and wait for time.

It's not fun anymore. At least when the loot crates were first introduced it was still fun to play. Yeah getting legendary equipment took a while if you didn't get extremely lucky, but you didn't need it to have a decent bot and have fun.

Fun idler so far.
