As a long time Star Wars fan like many of you, I really wanted to love this game, so i decided not to write a review until after I finished the campaign even though I was was certain of how i felt about it after a few hours.
I was hoping at the very least, if i didn't enjoy the game, I might find some insight into the star wars universe that would compliment the main series, and maybe my experience would change for the better at some point along the course of game play, but unfortunately I was being too optimistic.
There is a lot to like about Fallen order, but for me there is a lot more to hate.
The beautiful graphics, stunning scenery and epic boss battles are overshadowed by the terrible level design and simplistic game mechanics.
The games combat doesn't begin to be fun until the last few hours of gameplay, then its a rush to the finish before you get to enjoy your characters new found powers.
Unlocking new areas in SWJFOs maps are barricaded behind progressing the campaign, forcing you to revisit bland boring environments and defeat the same enemies you've killed multiple times before in order to collect useless aesthetic trinkets which do nothing for the characters skill development.
There is absolutely no reason for you to continue to collect items after beating the campaign.
There are plenty of games out there that suffer from these same issues and are reviewed accordingly, but sadly it seems the star wars theme has overshadowed the negative features of SWJFO.
The only thing in SWJFO I did really enjoy was the boss fights, as that was the only time I was really immersed in the game.
Boss fights are the only time you feel like Cal actually could be a Jedi because the main game play is so janky and awful.
I felt like I was drudging through the main game play, rushing from one boss battle to the next just for the relief of exiting the incredibly simple and boring nature of the game, if only for a few minutes to enjoy the prolonged combat of a worthy opponent.... Seriously guys, I've had more fun at work than i did navigating the very poorly ripped off Tomb Raider style maps of SWJFO.

If you were thinking of buying this but you're not addicted to the dark souls series and the re-branded Disney Star Wars saga, then i would suggest you just go watch the cut scenes on youtube, and even then I would say you're wasting your time as the whole story of this game is completely pointless in the main Star Wars storyline.
