Knock-off stuff has a bad reputation, but is it deserved?
In this case, I have no idea! The game for today has nothing to do with its supposed inspirations, but it could still hold some value...

Some games are remembered to be excellent and breaking new grounds, others are remembered for being awful and broken, others yet are remembered for being so bland and inoffensive that their blandness in it itself is worth remembering.
For all the others, it's worth asking:
Why nostalgia forgot them?

MONOBOT does nothing wrong, but it also doesn't stick out. Those looking for a 2d puzzle-platformer are going to be satisfied, while everyone else may just feel lukewarm.

It doesn't look pretty and one third of the jokes are cringe, but Armed and Dangerous pulls itself up with frenetic over the top combat and writing swinging between crude, snarky and witty.

I am pleased that Crying Suns doesn't just limit itself to copy its source material, but makes an actual effort to have its own identity, coming out ultimately as an enjoyable experience.

Plebby Quest aims to satisfy a niche of newbie users who want to approach the grand strategy genre for the first time and, with a set of good but not too complex mechanics and decent stories, I think it manages to.

Impossible Creatures did not break the mold or create a new sub-genre in the strategy genre, but it had an interesting idea and run with it to a good degree of success.
