In all honesty, game is pretty fun with the new start right now. Only downside is that if you really want to take off, you'll have to buy patron for at least 1 month. After that 1 month, if you play enough, you can sustain subscription by buying APEX in game for in game gold. 2 APEX = 1 month sub, but if you're even fairly decent at gold making, this shouldn't be too hard.

If you plan to PvP hardcore, be wary; you're gonna have to sink A LOT of hours in the game OR deep in your wallet in order to remain competitive.

The rest of the game (PvE) is perfectly playable without having to ever reach deep into your wallet.
