This is probably the first JRPG I actually finished.

The good:
Really cool story moments, good characters and I really enjoyed the calendar/time system, think it gives some urgency to stuff happening that in some other RPG is a bit immersion breaking, like setting off to do 100 hours of side quests while there is a main quest with a huge pressing matter, which doesn't really happen in this game by how it's designed.

The bad:
That being said it's not without it's flaws. Imo I really didn't care about the soundtrack. The songs themselves are not bad but some moments where they put them are so jarring it completely ruins the mood of the scene. It feels just like that, they are decent tracks but they don't serve the narrative most of the time.

I also feel the story is a bit too drawn out and some plot points are just a bit dumb at times. The overall story arch is good, but (without spoiling anything) some moments are just too deus ex machina for my taste for the sake of moving the plot along. Felt a bit lazy at points, I feel the story had more potential, none of the plot twist moments had like that big oof factor if that makes sense.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion:

Still gave around 120 hours of fun on my playthough :) came out with some good memories. The characters really carry the whole thing I think. Felt very One Piece like at some points. I will end my rant here then with a solid 8/10!

Oh I completely forgot but I also want to add the combat is fine. I like all the variety you have in setups, but by endgame I feel like you will be using a lot of the same because of how overpowered some skills/gear are.

I think a lot of the combat is around being able to KO everything on the first turn never allowing enemies to do anything. Usually if enemies are allowed to have a turn it's usually super devastating (I was playing on hard) especially in later phases of the game, and you even get bonuses for winning without taking damage and how overpowered some skills are it really feels like it guides you towards just one shooting everything, which feels a bit lame because you never get to see some boss phases and it just feels a bit dumb to be able to defeat some really hyped up foes in just a turn.
