I'm proposing a change to your equation:
Frustration = (Death count) x (Number of minutes since you last saved ^ (Minutes of unsaved time that was just backtracking + 1))

When starting a new game, I map every key to Quick Save. Sure, I can't actually do anything in the game, but I never lose a single second of playtime due to an untimely death.
