Played this game to completion. It's an ok game. The combat mechanics are very console-like which is fun. The open-world feels super hollow though. It reminds me of games made twenty years ago. The story and side quests are underwhelming. Definitely not worth $70. It doesn't hold a candle to other AAA open-world RPG games.

I really wanted to like this game but it's just boring and the progression arc feels like a grind. If you enjoy chopping down endless trees, you will like this game. The premise makes no sense at all. You arrive by spaceship but you have stone age survival skills. It will take you at least 10-15 hours of grinding to leave the stone age. Also, there is a risk for permadeath for your character. You then will have to start all over.

Bottom line is this: It's been in early access for 2+ years and the story still has only one chapter. They also unapologetically break your saves every major update. Since it's full price, I don't see any reason to not wait for the full release.

I played it when it first entered early access and the game was stable. Looking at the number of reviews, they have made so much money already, I'm not sure what is taking so long. This is a AAA studio with multiple hits under their belts.

I wouldn't recommend this game yet for casual players because of overly aggressive pvp. I don't have the time to join a clan and my friends that usually play this sort of thing with me got a refund after the launch disaster.

I had a lot of fun with this game until I was completely wiped out by an aggressive PvP clan. The ramp-up from nothing to being confident in roaming around is hours upon hours of grinding. I don't have the will or patience to build back up again. It was fun the first time however.

There is a lot to like here. I enjoyed building my ship and there are echoes of FTL a game I really enjoyed.

That being said, the fights become repetitive very quickly. The game is buggy as hell too. Can't go an hour without the game crashing

Bought this game on sale. One of the things that kept me away was I heard it was shorter than PoE. Not true at all. This is essentially PoE with a way more interesting setting and way more interesting story. 10/10. I hope they do a sequal.

Game has gotten much better over the years. It has always had amazing unique gameplay. I can't recommend this game because of the constant server wipes.

Every nine months or so me and my friends will dive in, build a bad ass ship, explore lots of island and have a blast, then they wipe the servers and we stop playing because we lose all progression.

They wonder why this game seems so empty...

Do not buy this game right now. There is a massively annoying bug that causes save games to be corrupted. No word from developer but it's pretty frustrating considering this problem has been around since early access.

I love the gameplay but the general quality of the game is absolute garbage and it never gets any better. They just keep piling on more features and DLC. If you don't believe me go read the forums.

Quick Summary

• Hit detection and clipping issues. Dinosaur heads poking through base walls to kill you. Accidentally "hitting" your friend when you both try to kill a dino even though he is standing on the other side of the dino. Aggro-ing dinos by "hitting" them when you're standing 5 feet away from them
  
• Random performance problems. My computer i7, 16GB RAM, geforce gtx 970. Every few patches, Ark maxes out my memory. Intermittent jerkiness and I hear the hard drive just cranking always.

Decent game just not worth anything near $30. Bored after 10 hours. Played another 10 hours waiting for more to happen but I think I've experienced everything

Game in a nutshell:
- Build a base (defenses, beds, farms, etc.)
- Fight off ever increasing enemies
- Deal with random crises.

At some point the cycle feels pointless.
