Sure, these are valid points. However the quoted above is not my thoughts, it's taken from a horror film by John Carpenter called "In the Mouth of Madness", it carries a certain Lovecraftian vibe. Worth watching, if the genre's your cup of tea.

10 years is an awful short time for a myth to be perpetuated; especially with so much logical evidence which would almost certainly be around if some other species was also around to tell stories to their children. However If we did happen to meet our end I believe we would probably be looked at more as dinosaurs by others, i.e. science to be studied. A natural cleansing could possibly be in the works with upcoming oil crisis which will undoubtedly be felt on a global scale, but never all of us. Even if it does get close, I think there will always be some hanger-ons. Then-again whens the last time you saw a dinosaur.
