I don't write reviews often, but this is a fantastic game, hands down, buy it. The challenge doesn't come from combat, it comes from surviving and it took me a couple of times to survive the winter. Devs have been adding a stream of content but even without I've already replayed it a few times

Pros:
-The weapons are awesome, the armors looks great, the upgrades to them make a significant difference (armor does not level after looting, so you need to get new armor as you level, this is a good thing, if your armor levels with you it's just boring);
-the ships customization is amazing;
-the skill system works;
-it's replayable;
-the companions are cool and have interesting backgrounds and conversations;
-You can even build bases on outer worlds and crafting was fun (I will admit levelling through crafting is slightly broken, but its up TO YOU whether you will exploit that).
-Pirating ships is awesome (albeit not broken/too profitable)
What else could you want, I truly don't understand how this game can get a "mixed" review?

The ONLY things that bothered me were:
-I feel compelled to loot every single item and the game tries to force you not to do so (that's on me).
-Make sure your graphics card can handle it. If not, prices have dropped enough to get a decent graphics card (I got a new RX 7800 XT and it runs it very well).

There's a reason the rating for this game is overwhelmingly positive. I keep coming back to this game, it's prison architect style colony survival, it's great and everything that's not great is moddable.. There aren't many games that are this extensive.

Excellent game, with every new patch I find myself going back for a replay . Start easy and bring up the difficulty with increasingly more difficult prisoners. Sell your prison after a while and build a completely new one. You'll find yourself experimenting with different layouts for different rooms for ultimate efficiency. The only downside I could find was the lack of a good tutorial, but the learning curve isn't steep so don't worry and yes, it's an aplha but it doesn't feel like an alpha at all. In short, stop being in doubt and buy the game already, because this is one game I can assure you, you won't regret buying!

Excellent game, don't worry about regretting buying it.
