This is an Early Access release sold as a finished product.
The game costs money and uses F2P grinding mechanics to keep people playing.

I had hardly any crashes when I got the game.
Since the last August patch it's become a common occurrence.
The game can hang up when quitting forcing you to reset the PC.
Divers randomly disappear while in mission because their game crashed or they were disconnected.
Game crashes after extracting and "winner posing" and attempting to leave squad.
Game crashes while joining a group or playing on the map.
Game seems to hang up for a minute when returning back to ship after a mission.

Sometimes you not be able to join a mission but just watching a joining screen until being sent back your ship or other shenanigans.
"Joinable" missions are visible on the map yet clicking on them eventually shows them to be a private lobby.
Why show them at all then?

One day this game will be cited as a textbook example of how to release a strong product to much acclaim and sales success then throwing it all away and rapidly dismantling the buyers/players trust in the developers abilty and willingness to please their customer and give them an enjoyable game.
And that's without getting into the whole constant weapons nerfing drama.

As much as the gameplay itself can be fun in the current state I can not recommend buying this game.

Update after having spent anohter 150+ hours grinding out my Ship upgrades:

Bug updates:

Join 3-man team.
Get sent to empty loadout/map screen.
Then game crashes.

"The Host has left the game."
Get used to seeing that a lot when failing to join a team.

Muffled Audio bug.
Joined a mission and my sound was barely audible.
It was as if it had gone down from 10 to 2 or 1.
It only reverted back to normal when we extracted and the cut scene and music started playing.

Returning to ship after successful mission and leaving group.
Crash To Desktop

Automaton missions, even on easier diffculties can result in continous enemy spawns.

It's already bad enough with the Automation reinforcement spam and then on some planets they add on Environmental modifiers.
Stupid Firestorms that follow you and make you run around as if you're looking for that one free parking space in town.

Ragdolling all the time because of explosions, sometimes you will be lauchned into orbit!

Enemies that suddenly pop out of nowhere with no audio cues, Hulk targets that aren't where they are supposed to be and then you find them and their Icon magickly appears there :steamfacepalm:

And to top it all off you may be running around with a good Helldiver/Team and then the game decides to disconnect or crash them.

This Dev has spent the last few months rebuffing weapons after all the nerfs they introduced post-launch that they seem to have not spent much time actually fixing bugs. A lot of annoying things have been in the game since lauch and still are 6+ months later.

If you absolutely cannot stand buggy software, do not buy!
If you're much more tolerant of such things then go ahead.

Latest update 11.11.2024:
The game's weapons have been heavily reworked, making many much better to use.
It is much more viable and enjoyale to run different loadouts.
A Loadout system itself however is still not wanted by the Devs, so you still have to manually choose which weapons and geat to run every time!
That means they don't want a QoL improvement for their players! smh
The game is constantly recieving patches and bugfixes.
However the game can still be annoying as hell with old bugs being reintroduced again, other old bugs apparently still not fixed and numerous other annoyances like CTDs or the game not finishing correctly.
It is really hard to recommend this to anybody expecting a quality product.
