pre order DLC! BOOO!

Was gifted to me. I reccomend waiting for a sale. AI is horrible and the game is easy even on the hardest difficulty. The hero units are overpowered and decide the battle.

I reccomend Rend, but only for players who aren't easily put off by EA issues. I will explain.

Rend is a game that both casualizes the surivival genre, and at the same time makes it more competitive by adding a victory mechanic that will reset the game to its beginnings once a winning faction has accumulated sufficient points(spirits), which is intended to take a month on average. A winning faction recieves a +100% bonus to their ascension points (points which give perks that can be carried with you to a new server) while the two losing factions recieve a +75% bonus. At the same time, this slight difference in rewards adds itself to more casual play, and players will find no barriers to prevent them from doing only pvp, as weapons and armor are normally provided to the faction for free from others who love to grind. The game supports multiple play styles, and it is not necessary to engage in pvp combat at all to have a lot of fun in this game.

Rend is more casualized because dying isn't as painful as in other full loot games, the entire tech tree can be completed within a month or less, and crafting has never been easier, with materials in abundance that easily provide for several players after a small amount of effort. The game is also perhaps more competitive than Ark, for example, since there is a definate winner and winning in Rend requires teamwork and strategy.

In a way, this seems to make Rends target audience pretty niche because it is less sandboxy and more competitive within the survival genre, and at the same time you don't have to necessarily, and is designed for players who can handle being killed and looted by other players, who welcome periodic progress resets and continue to play the despite sometimes being disadvantaged for the entire saga due to faction player count imbalances.

Rend is a good game but it definately isn't for everyone, as you will notice from the other reviews. The vast majority of players quit as a result of their own stupidity, not because the game is so bad to not be worth player. Most players have quit after they got raided by an enemy because they built personal bases and foolishgly put things in there that they could not handle losing. This game is just too much for most people to handle, especially in EA. The spoilt and overy-expectant man-babies who have written the vast majority of these "reviews" have no business writing them, given the apparent lack of objectivity.

Griefers have been an issue, but the dev team have been very responsive to the problems. Honestly, I've never had a dev team fix so many of my complaints, and they have done so in good time. Perhaps over 80% of the issues i've made them aware of on the forums has been resolved.

This is the most fun I've had in a game since the original Darkfall. If you like full loot pvp, or pve and pets, or crafting, and and periodic server resets in a team-oriented game, this game is for you. For only $30, I would reccomend it for these types of players.

Notable likes:
-Solid dev team that has been very responsive to VALID complaints.
-Interesting Mob mechanics like aware state/aggro state, flanking from minions.
-Unique taming system with pet "rating" that keeps it interesting and challenging.
-Supports all play styles including casual/hardcore.
-Areas that get "mined out", and are only the same again in a new saga or perhaps a long period of time.
-Siege gameplay and "outpost" pvp objectives that are vulnerable throughout the day.
-The Reckoning (needs to be harder)



Don't likes:
-Stag pet is too strong early game. Too much survivability, escapability and ability to chase down farmers in early game.
-Reckoning too easy.
-Low pvp survivability. Large difference between different tiers of equipment.
-Lag that will sometimes cause you to fall off edges unintentinoally.
-Short body retrieval time ~30 mins ( think)
-Exact numbers count shown on server so that enemies know when best to you raid you.

DoW3 multiplayer blends the large scale battles of DoW1 with the micro oriented combat of DoW2.

While many DoW fans will give negative review out of spite that the game isn't an exact remake of whatever their favorite DoW game may have been, lamenting the removal of the features like the retreat button, sync kills, suppression and building cover, these features have been removed or altered for the sake of making combat more streamlined and uncomplicated and to have better game balance as well.

The power core game mode elimintes cheese possibilties and is a more appealing goal mechanic to previous DoW games mechanically in that you don't have to chase down every building on the map to win and mobility isn't as favored as with Victory Points. The ebb of battles tend to go back and forth there are real comback possibilities with good micro and powerful elites.

Unlike in DoW2, the campaign character progression is the same as the multiplayer and is less customizable than the squad customazation that was seperate and abailable in DoW2. This is where DoW3 has failed to live up to its predecessor and the main reason for so many thumbs down. However, the campaign story is well written, fully voice acted, and is by no means bad in any way, just unexpectedly different.

TLDR: Overall In comparison to previous DoW games, the multiplayer can be considered an improvement, yet the campaign, while not bad, lacks the luster of the previous title.

This is probably as good as you can hope for a free to play model, but argubly p2w.

Some cards seem ridiculously abusive, like the Blue flier that makes you removee the top card of your library for 2 mana and it gains its casting cost in power and toughness till end of turn. I cant fully reccomend. perhaps after a patch

CA has decided to attract a wider audience with their glittery streamlined casualized ♥♥♥♥ because only the masses will be dumb enough to buy all the DLCs (which should have been included in the game to start). We had a pre-order DLC with Rome II and we had 4 DLCs within a month after Atilla.

I can't recommend this game due to the greedy practices of CA, trying to make as much money as possible with minimal effort. Atilla is basically a Rome II with a few minor differences.

Not an absolutly terrible game, but I would advise torrenting this as these practices form EA and CA should not be supported in the video games industry.
