Ah - he would have liked to have been at the 50th Anniversary of its closure, two years ago in Downton - there was a chap there with a working model of Downton Station and its immediate surroundings - volunteers had helped him dismantle it and transport it from his home - and presumably take it back at the end. An expert gave and amazing talk and presentation about the complete history of the line - and there was much discussion among the large number of folk present - some quite elderly! - and loads of photos and ancient press cuttings - fascinating!
