Against the Storm is one of the best strategic colony builders I have had the pleasure of enjoying. One of its greatest assets is its hybridization of micro and macro gameplay that allows you to play again and again without feeling burnt out after repetitive play.

Each colony is a sort of "Level" you beat before returning you to an overarching world where you must choose a path to settle your colonies. The amazing part about each colony, though, is that they all behave like puzzles, with multiple ways you can combine starting parameters, buildings, and cornerstones to create a functional settlement.

Further beyond that, the overarching world also has a sort of "Level" system (called Seals) where you must reach specific points in each map with your colony-path to extend the amount of time (more like Sid Meier's Civilization's turns with each colony being a turn, mechanically) you have in the world. With each Seal you claim, the number of colonies you can build within each world cycle goes up, allowing you to reach further into the world and claim the next Seal in the next cycle.

The DLC is also fun, adding a new species and a number of other bells and whistles. Necessary? Not by any means, but it is very worth it given the price and the content you receive.

The sheer scope of the game is deceptively massive, and the developers keep adding new content so it stays fresh. I would say I am in the latter half of the game now, only needing to complete two more world Seals (Titanium and Adamantine), but I have sunk over 200 hours into the game, making this more than worth the asking price. I'm looking forward to completing all the achievements and beating the game soon, but I anticipate that is a fair ways off still!

I am a long term Stellaris player, having enjoyed the game for years and purchased most of the DLC's as they have come out up until recently (disappointed with Astral Planes). I have achievement hunted, modded, played multiplayer with friends, and everything in between. I am disappointed to have to give this game a thumbs down after so much fun to be had because, ultimately, I can never justify supporting a subscription based model for a game that also charges full price for DLC content. I am just flabbergasted, but hardly surprised, based on the direction Paradox has gone in recent years. The feeling can be likened to betrayal after supporting the development of the game for so long.

Cozy, fun, and a good time sink, Wildmender is a blend of Breath of the Wild and Stardew Valley, allowing you to revitalize a barren desert into an oasis of greenery and life. Worthwhile for anyone who wants a gardening adventure that doesn't require a full investment of energy and effort

Early Access Review
Even though I've played very little with it, it seems to be one of the best dungeon makers out there. Worth every penny

Despite only having this game for a little over a month, it has been a nonstop blast. Definitely recommend. Also Grand Prix requirement to review a game, so not a valid review. Still, a fun game!

Certainly worth investing time in. Having been a player since 2013, I can say that this game has grown the most and the best. Besides, its free. Why not give it a try?
