The game has two main aspects. PvP and PvE and should be reviewed differently for each aspect. The 100-ish hours I have spent at the time of writing, are on PvE and this will be my review for. PvE wise the game has many things to offer borrowing the best characteristics from other previous mmos. Some like them some not.
1) It has New World's classles system where instead of a class you choose your weapon, but it offers much more granularity and diversity, by leveling the weapon as an item and the related active and passive skills of that weapon. It also has a mastering system for the said weapon that offers extra passive abilities.
2) It features MSQ (Main Story Quest) line like FF14 with quite interesting (subjective opinion) plot and characters. The MSQ will take you to level cap, without the need to grind boars to level up. At Some points, the next chapter will not be avalable untill you reach a certain level but this is ideal to make you explore a little or take up contracts.
3) It has dungeon mechanics similar to WoW's smaller dungeons. I yet haven's seen any large scale raid. 2 or 3 bosses with interesting combat mechanics, wipe mechanics, audio and graphical cues for understanding the various boss attacks.
4) Apart from these, the game has enviroment mechanics such as rain, eclipse, day/night cycles that certain conditions apply for each enviroment.
5) Now for end game content, the game has several dungeons to complete and farm, daily contracts, weekly objectives, milestones for unlockable content and many more.
6) Crafting is almost missing with the classic gather-transform-craft recipee being totally absent, replaced by "NPC Crafters" who are actually traders that will give you the item you want for some very difficult to find in game items.

Overall the game is quite satisfying on the pve aspect, and at some point being a guild member has to offer much better content and activities access. No p2w, up to this point, but I guess hitting high levels of combat power fast should require a visit or two to the shop, or at least read a good f2p guide. I will let someone else to judge the PvP part since my PvP experience is fairly low.

Happy gaming and at least give it a try to reach lvl 50, it's easy and fast. If you are overwhelmed in the begining, don't be frustrated. Slowly you will find the ways of the game and hopefully you will have a great time.
Cheers!

Tip 1 : Go get a flight controller that can be used as a gamecontroller also.
Tip 2 : Put in the work and put in the hours of training needed and you will feel more confident about starting real flights.
Tip 3 : Do the tutorial, not only free flight.
If you find it boring, keep in mind that every time you crash in the simulator, you save at least the cost of a new set of props.

Destiny is one of those games, that hides a lot of gems. One thing to take under consideration is if you enjoy this kind of fast paced combat. If you do, the movement and the fights are very satisfying.

Graphically above average, with wonderful level design on every different world and an excellent soundtrack. As a genre the most accurate and representative type is mythic sci-fi or science fantasy. That is sci-fi with a lot of elements that are presented in a scientifically logical manner, but disregard the scientific laws of the real world.

Either you follow the story line through campaigns (expansions), or just doing your weekly missions, destiny has something to present to you to keep you busy. But as stated in the beginning there is a lot more to destiny and its expansions. Not a steep learning curve, no.

Destiny is an easy game to begin with. But someone who start plays destiny for the first time, is that it is impossible to feel and to imagine, better yer understand the grandeur plot and the massive amount of content this game has to offer. Best way to start is by the f2p version and the grab the latest expansion. If money is an issue, I would suggest a previous expansion with a playable campaign that might come a little cheaper.

Give it a try, and you might find the Guardian that hides in you.

Well, it's a well polished game. Nice UI (even though some disagree), Very good world design, amazing music. Action system, for first time feels like real action. Toon collision, makes things harder, but gives a sense that it makes a difference on where you stand. Levelling is a sequence of repeatable demands. Go there, collect X of that crate, kill Y of that kind, find Z of that items etc. Having a background of AO, DAoC, HGL, Rift, GW2, Aion, Tera, BDO, ArchAge, ESO, Wow and quite a few others, my current 27 level char, and my journey so far, makes me feel that NW came to fill a gap in the genre. I believe that end game will be lacking some content or activity, but time will show. Certainly worth the price, and the time you might put in.

Being a fan of 40K universe for more than half of my almost boomer life, I was often disappointed from the quality of the titles that came as games on this universe. Others lacked depth, others lacked immersion. This one is a new approach, for me at least. With superb game mechanics, excellent looting experience and amazing character advancement, it is a good game to play alone or with friends. Remarkable is the balance of poser / comic relief elements that show that a resourceful writing team is behind the script and the plot. The story can be as deep, or as shallow as you want it to be. You can pay attention to every line, read every letter, try to read every screen, and amazing elements will come from the texts. Funny, interesting, amazing things. Skip everything, go fast and again you don't miss the plot. Either way, enjoy the mayhem but remember : the universe is a vast place and, whatever happens, you will not be missed...

Came back after a lot of time... and a lot of seasons. Nice additions. Surely more polished than previous seasons....

Ok, let's start from the basics. Not exactly a totally free game. Sure you can play some content for free, but as I read somewhere, DDO is the best F2P game I have spent some hundred dollars on. Well maybe hundreds not, but quite a few. You can also reach cap for free but it takes much more time and much more effort. Even VIP accounts pay even more money for extra inv space, extra materials bags etc. BUT, if you are willing to put aside the fact that the company now running the game is trying to get every (no matter if this is euro or USD cent) cent out of your pocket, because, company must make some bucks also, this a true D&D online experience. Music, narrative, plot, no matter where you look at it, it excels. Strong elements of exploration, survival, accidents etc. Yes. Try running crucible alone without a dexterous friend, or without a strong one. Go swim up a river when you really need to. Or try to enter a dungeon without proper preparations... Of course you can do easier content, less punishing, less dangerous, and with less rewarding... It is just like playing a session of DnD. Even better if you find a friend to play along more like a multiplayer, than an mmo. Graphics are good for the age of the game. and the game mechanics are really deep. Character building really matters and the best you set up your character, the harder content you will be able to pull. Learning curve is stiff though. Find a good guide and give it a try, maybe you will like something more challenging and less casual for a change...

This is not a game. This is a lesson of inevitability. This is an experience that will make you a better person. It will make you faster, stronger and smarter. The gifts that will be bestowed upon you are like no other. The choice is yours... or not.
