I usually don't review and I normally don't review for such a reason, but after the many negative reviews recently, I want to point out that I bought the game just now and it both activated and started perfectly well for me.

There are some things about 2070 which I don't like quite as much as I liked 1404 and 1701, but it is a good Anno and fun to play. I still hope Ubisoft will at some point stop binding their games to UPlay, if they are distributed over a platform like Steam, which functions as a DRM anyway.

I already had UPlay running, since I already had other Ubisoft games installed. It updates regularly, so that might have been one aspect. Me running Win7 might have been another.

And I didn't mean that people who can't play it should shut up. But I was considering the buy for a while myself (while the game was on a huge discount), because of the bad reviews. Since I couldn't say anything bad about the game and it worked for me, I wanted for people to know it wasn't broken for everyone, because the game as a such is fun.

So people who cant play the game should shut up???
The fix is simple, but not straight forward and Steam should warn people for selling a broken game out of the box.
The reason it worked for you most likely is that you already had the Uplay virus already installed.

I never claimed it does, but the many negative reviews made it look more broken than it was. So I thought I should point out that it doesn't create problems for everyone.
