Game becomes near impossible with the DLC.

I played the game twice originally, once on normal difficulty and the second time around on higher difficulty with grandmaster mode enabled.

It was a challenge, especially early on when you've got next to no facilities and all of your units suck. Pretty much exactly like XCOM.

However, it was fair. Very rarely you would meet Plague Marines and other difficult enemies within the first 10 hours of the campaign.

With the new Archeotech missions etc. they threw all of that out the window. Be prepared to meet an entire Squad of plague marines as your first enemy, receiving reinforcements TWICE within the first three turns because the bloom meter goes up WAY TOO FAST. 55% per turn because I used two psychic powers because I'm effed otherwise, yeah that's fair.

Watch all your units die from getting plagued literally nonstop because you've got a single cleanse against the insane amount of dots you'll receive.

Shriek in horror as every single enemy you encounter has 3+ armor whilst you're running around with a squad max level 5 with no notable equipment whatsoever.

Spend the entire game early game keeping the enemy at range because your meelee units become completely worthless when there's more than one enemy.

And why in Christs name is it still not a thing that units receive 1WP every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ turn?! HAVE YOU ACTUALLY PLAYTESTED THE FINAL BATTLE?! IT TAKES LIKE TWO HOURS TO GET THROUGH BECAUSE YOU'LL RUN OUT OF WP 20 MINUTES IN!

Sorry, this devolved into a full on rant, but it's really frustrating to see a game that worked well to get completely torn apart by "balance" patches and a DLC.

Do you like XCOM? Cause this is pretty much exactly like XCOM in 40k. Not a bad thing mind you, it's one of the best turn based strategy games out there so why not take from the best.

Geniuinely one of the best 40k games I have played to date and I mean it's only 35 bucks. Great value!

I might just be really stupid but holy hell this game is had even on beginner when you've got no clue what you're doing. After about 20 hours when I hadn't lost a single soldier for about 10 missions I was like "aight, I got the hang of it now", I increased the difficulty and lost my entire squad. This game's effing amazing.

Last Stand mode still alive and going. Wish this had been in DoW 3.

The story sucked and is basically just a massive tutorial for the mp, choosing your elite units at the very beginning of the game is absolutely retarded cause you're gonna get slaughtered in the mp if you chose the wrong ones and the Last Stand mode is still sorely missing. WHat happened to your love of this franchise Relic? This game is soooooo boring.

Two years ago, I was incredibly hyped for this game. I thought "this is the game I've been longing for". One year ago, I was incredibly disappointed when I saw the first reviews coming in, claiming the game is only a shallow version of what we were actually promised. 34 hours of gameplay ago, I felt like giving it a shot again. Was it worth it?

Maybe. No Man's Sky's strngth definitely lies in the first 12 hours of gameplay. The first time you walk around on a planet's surface. The first time you enter space. The first time you visit another solar system etc etc are outright magical moments.

But slowly you begin to realise: this is it, huh? Where's the massive spacebattles? Where's the fractions? Where's my...purpose?

You start doing the same things over and over again: Scan your solarsystem, discover something that looks exactly like the stuff you've discovered a hundred times already, mine some ressources, fly to the nearest space station/trading post, buy/sell ressources, take off again. Rince and repeat in every new solar system.

I'll be honest, this game loses it's magic faster than I hoped, but it was still a lot of fun while it lasted.

Quite relaxing and fun actually. Haven't played against a single player so far, only bots, but maybe that'll change (someday). Completely different from the mobile version (which is a good thing). Horribly unbalanced though (there's a character that oneshots enemies after being stealthed for like three seconds.)
