It's like an extended Rick and Morty episode without actually having Rick and Morty

Gunplay is pretty standard, no complaints. Could've done more puzzles/platforming with the gun powers.

Beautiful game world, the aliens all looky hella goofy

Jokes fell a little flat in the first half of the game but the 2nd half was pretty good!

On sale and a fan of space horror? You'll enjoy it a bit, I at least enjoyed it enough to finish.

Atmospherically, the game is fantastic. Everything else? Underwhelming. The plot is OK. Actually it becomes pretty cool towards the end when a bunch of stuff is revealed. The side characters are also not half bad. Dani makes for a great sidekick if it wasn't for the fact the game finds the stupidest ways to separate you two. Pretty frustrating that the game starts to really pickup when you start to hang with her too then all of a sudden - surprise! You're back to doing the same ♥♥♥♥ as the first 2 hours, 6 hours in. There's even a section where you slip and fall AGAIN to be separated (This happens at least 3x) in order to pad the game's length an additional 5mins. It's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid.

Horror: Over-used ambushes and jump scares. This is ok for the first first couple of hours, but repeating the same tired horror tropes (Spooky zombie walking ahead of you, ambush from a vent, sudden jump scare turning a corner etc) throughout the ENTIRE GAME? Idk about that one. It's a shame really, because the sound design really adds a sense of tension (things going bump in the dark, movement in walls and vents). It feels like every single level was made separately in a vacuum by different people. These people then all had the same cool ideas. It's legitimately comical that the final moment of the game is an attempted jump scare.

Combat: There is some cool ideas here with the melee combat. Dodging like Mayweather is really satisfying even if braindead simple. The biggest issue with the combat in this game is that there is far too many enemies for the combat system. Getting attacked by 4 enemies at once should be dangerous, I agree with that. Getting attacked by groups 10x in a row in the space of 20minutes? Nah. This was so un-fun I had to turn it down to the lowest difficulty and it was STILL un-fun. You are just way too inadequately equipped for group combat (grenades where??)

The survival part of survival horror: It takes some inspiration from Resident Evil with its inventory management but the whole thing is so unbelievably at odds with the level design. In other survival horrors, running and evading is a viable option in order to conserve resources. This game, there is a many times where you cannot progress without killing every enemy in a fixed encounter. There's no gameplay reward for mastering the layout of the map (the maps aren't designed to be backtracked)/ The game wants to be resident evil but is being forced to be dead space. It just does not work well.

That's my ramble. Hoping for a sequel strangely enough.

P.S - The performance is atrocious even a year on. Averaging 60fps with some sections going as low as 45. Acceptable? Yeah i guess, not on a 4090 + 5900X though !

Everytime quota is met, the next quota is higher which pushes you to do better or travel to harder planets.

It can be VERY scary at times, but for the most part it's a fun time

Souls veterans looking for more pain: Get it, it's good and full of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Newcomers: Buy literally ANY Fromsoft game instead

Narrative is superior to both BG3 and Witcher 3 and I'm tired of pretending it's not

I am a long time fan of Armored Core (Started with AC3, have played every single one). Purists might get a little irked by the increased accessibility (Much like Dark Souls->Elden RIng). I for one welcome it all, this game is a fantastic base for this generation.

Good
- PC port is actually good
- Part variety is pretty high, higher than AC4
- The mercenary 'just a job' immersion is great. The quick and easy missions are super enjoyable.
- The epic missions are EPIC
- The boss fights are definitely closer to soulsborne than previous ACs but i think that's OK. Boss fights are hectic
- I love everything about the plot and characters. Ranging from incredible (Rusty) to cheesy as hell (HELLO GUN 13). Perfect armored core stuff
- I didn't think the ending could match the emotions of AC4...but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ here we are again. Struggling to see the enemy through tears

Disappointments
- The music is good but doesnt come close to AC4/FA or Verdict Day. I'd say the soundtrack is a little too safe
- The purist in me feels like there's way too many near/one-hit KO mechanics in the earlier bosses. You lose a bit of that heavily ARMORED vibe when you take like 50%+ of your hp in damage. Sometimes it just feels like im playing Sekiro
- This is the big one. Build planning loses quite a bit of depth due to the addition of checkpoints and repair kits/supply drops. Previous games you had to adjust your mech for things like mission duration (longer missions = need more ammo/AP to sustain) and multiple enemy types (bringing a versatile load-out to be ready for both trash MTs and an AC ambush). When you die and restart at a checkpoint, the game lets you change to a completely different mech. Accessible but also ridiculous - you can make a mech to get through the level and then switch to a boss killer just for the boss. I hope they bring back AC building depth for the next game.
- No weird AC parts / slots (Inside parts, Extension parts etc)
- Can't dual wield blades
- The auto-lock on is TOO good. Needs to be disabled in pvp IMO - very difficult now to stay in someone's blindspot
- I miss radiators and heat

Without a doubt one of, if not THE best crpg ever made

Nice corridor shooter. Graphics hold up pretty well. The tv show component is pretty neat. Good sci-fi time travel shenanigans. Recommend on sale
