Reluctant recommend but objectively this game is good. My biggest problem is the combat and souls-like nature. Exploring and finding secrets is a hardcore chore when you have an army of respawning trash everywhere. Obviously i can just get good, but therein lies the problem.

I don't want to get good at this game, i just wanna discover stuff.

Thankfully you can enable god mode in the options otherwise i probably would've stopped playing after getting the first major plot item. Boss fights were pretty fun though, did those normally.


If you're like me and are intrigued because it's somewhat commonly mentioned along with Outer Wilds:

It's not really anywhere near similar. I went in expecting a similar experience mystery/plot/exploration wise and was hardcore disappointed. In Outer Wilds all rewards for exploration are intrinsic, Here they are the opposite. Clues are given in the manual you get which CAN be reminiscent of Echoes of the Eye at times but the difference is the secrets you find are largely unrelated to the plot. They dont push you towards closure or a resolution, they all just feel like boxes you tick until you get 100% and are rewarded with the true ending of the game.

The secrets dont actually build towards this ending, theyre just secrets for the sake of being secrets. It's not a bad thing, it's just not what I wanted personally. (Note that i didn't actually do most of them, just went and read up on it.)

There is no reason to play the original, this is a literal perfect remake

Short and sweet. Well written world + well written dialogue. Voice acting was really good! Not really any pixel hunting, the game also has in-world hints from characters if you really get stuck. Puzzles near the end of the game were fantastic. Loved the atmosphere.

If it was any longer, I probably wouldn't recommend it. Nice mysterious atmosphere, creepy at a couple points. The game is mostly puzzles like LIMBO or Little Nightmares. Starts off a little monotonous, gets better after about an hour. The last section of the game is fantastic. If the mysterious world is what draws you in, know that barely any of it is explained.

A direct sequel to Psychonauts 1. Pretty much better than the first in every single way. The level designs are even weirder/creative but also more streamlined. This does mean overall the game is easier though. I don't really enjoy platformers anymore but this had me gripped from beginning to end.

Hardcore Anno fans hate this game because it greatly simplifies goods transportation. If you're coming from Anno 1800: There is no trade routes between individual islands, only between regions. All trade routes are chartered routes.

It's like an Anno for newcomers / casual city builder players. You'll still lose tons of hours. It's still really fun. Honestly it's 100x less of a headache than Anno 1800. The biggest downsides are you can't play sandbox mode and you can't manually save (you're essentially playing permanently in Ironman mode).

Call me crazy but I really enjoyed the faux-RTS ship combat missions. I dunno. It's something I never knew i needed and something I now want fully fleshed out in a game. Anno city building with proper Dawn of War 2-esque combat missions.

Best Obsidian game in a long time. Super engaging narrative. Choices matter. Very nuanced evidence assessment for a detective game - you're never really quite sure if you're quite right.

Endearing characters, a few really emotional moments - at least for me. Incredible game

I liked 1 & 2. Aesthetically, this is great. Not everything needs to be a souls like though. Even on classic + story difficulty, there are some hardcore damage sponge trash mobs. Run back to the 2nd boss was already borderline DS1 tier annoying, huge red flag.

I WILL SAY THOUGH if you like Jedi: Fallen Order (a game I also dislike), you will like this.

Disturbing, unnerving, hopeless and beautiful. Basically the survival horror I've been waiting for since Silent Hill 2
