As a fan of the ZE series, I really had higher hopes for this game. The characters were overall decent, but a few of them really didn't land for me, and it doesn't help that the game spends most of its focus on them. The puzzle sections had some interesting parts, but overall didn't feel strong enough either. I will give credit to the atmosphere, even though at times it can almost feel campy, the game can pull off the creepy eerie anime aesthetic real well when it wants to. I just wish it could pull off the heartfelt moments as consistently. The comic relief is also hit and miss, but that's more easily looked over. Overall, I didn't hate the game, it was good, and had some good moments, but also had plenty of mediocre moments. I would give it the middle thumb if that was an option on steam.

While I tried to not let this affect my review too much, (although I'm sure it didn't help my feelings on the game) the numbers of crashes I experienced was nuts. Most of the game was fine, but the puzzle sections, including one in particular that must have crashed about a dozen times, was really annoying. Hopefully it was related to my specific setup and not in general.
