Biggest problems in this game are technical. 30 fps lock, graphics look like a mobile game, no Anti-Aliasing options etc.
But the actual gameplay is actually pretty solid. Reminds me a lot of Super Smash TV and some other twin stick shooters.

What I like the most is the ability to customize character and weapons. Also lots of people seem to complain about the overheat mechanic, I find it a nice addition to the game. With weapon upgrades you can make the weapon cool faster etc.

There are LOTS of different weapons and body parts so you can customize your character. The level design is repetitive, but the levels are actually pretty well designed and it's somewhat fun trying to get better score or finish the level faster. Some levels are bit too long.

Anyway, If you like twin stick shooters and can handle the 30 fps framerate and dated graphics, this game is actually quite fun, but not at full price.

Too bad they didn't give this one a better polish. This game looks awfully dated. But I can still recommend this to fans of twin-stick shooters.

One of the most addicting games I have ever played. Prepare to see Game Over screen, a lot. Also contains very awesome soundtrack.

If you ever watched DBZ as a kid and liked it, you should get this game.
This is quite shallow RPG experience, don't expect anything mindblowing. You fight, you level up, you fight, you level up. And in between you watch the story which is beautifully animated and voice acted by the original DBZ cast (at least almost all of them). This game is fairly easy, so don't expect any real challenge either. But I still enjoyed every moment of the game. Fighting is fun, and there is enough things to do to keep you entertained. And somehow this game is so relaxing. Nice and colorful anime graphics, you fly around to find things and dragonballs. Nice music, good voice acting, it's like watching DBZ and being kid again.

Enjoyable game. It took me about 50 hours to complete everything, so there is lots to do.

Finally the full version is here. Long story short: It's a good, but bit too short game that has taken inspiration game-mechanics wise from the castlevania-series.

Controls remind a lot of SoTN and graphical design (Deedlits run animation) and music also has taken some inspiration from the grand-daddy of adventure/exploration games.

The gameplay is easy and fun. Music sets the mood nicely and graphics are nice to watch.

The biggest issue with this game is the difficulty and other balance issues. This game is simply too easy. It may be fine for some people, but I found this game too easy.

During your quest you also get some different magic skills which are mostly pointless. You get the best spell during the very first minutes of the game and you can simply use that the whole game. No need to use different magic.

Same thing unfortunately goes for the weapons as well. Just buy the one with highest damage and you run past most of the enemies.

Enemies barely hit back, you can destroy most of the enemies before they even attack you.

Boss fights are also bit too easy. Castlevania - Order Of Ecclesia has pretty much perfect balance of difficulty of any Castlevania games (and castlevania styled)

But, balance issues aside, this is highly enjoyable game. It gives you 4-5 hours of adventuring.

There is a story but don't expect anything mind blowing. I just hope they would have given voice acting to give more "character" to well...characters.

I can recommend this game to any fans of castlevania-styled games if you can forgive the lack of challenge and it being a short game.

Get Warhammer 40K : Space Marine instead. It's more fun, has better action and overall felt much better game. The 1 hour I tried this game was enough. I did not enjoy this game.

Nice old-school bullethell / shoot'em up. Great graphics and music and the character voices are fun too.
If you like this style of games, Gunbird 2 is for you!

EDIT:

After the latest patch(es) I decided to try the game again. Things have improved a lot. Now the game is much more enjoyable to play. Some of the flaws are still there (like all those homing-jumping enemies) but overall the game is much more balanced now and less frustrating to play. So in the current state I will improve my score from 6/10 to 7/10 and change the thumb to recommended.

My old review is below.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This review is based to Steam and Xbox Game Pass version. I have about 15 hours of gameplay total. I have finished the game twice with Axel and once with Blaze and unlocked some retro characters to try out.

Was it worth the 26 years wait? No.
Is this the best SoR game ever? No.
Was I disappointed? Yes.

I've been a fan of SoR series ever since SoR 2 was released on Mega Drive back in the 90s and I've played lots of different beat em up games during my life.

Gameplay is somewhat OK-ish, but flawed. This game feels like a step backwards, not forwards. I really wonder why some people say this plays exactly like the older games. This does not. Even the retro characters feel "off" and you cannot do some combos you could do in older games. In earlier games you could get out of pinch by using defensive super move, in this game it does not work. Also the super armour on enemies and on bosses does not fit SoR game very well. Also there are some hitbox flaws and small things.

Music is weak compared to other SoR games but there are some good tracks and beats incluced. I do like the dynamic music, as the music evolves as you play trough a level. But the music often feels like it should be in another game. It does not give the SoR feeling enough.

Retro music is a nice addition but but strange track selections make you wonder what they were thinking. Boss music playing during level, level music playing duing boss etc.

Also the character sounds lack "oomph". Blaze sounds very weird and younger than in other SoR games, even though she should be older. Axel's Grand Upper shout is also weak compared to other SoR games. Where is the rage? Punching sounds, pipe swings etc, they were all much better in earlier games. The SFX lacks power. It lacks grit.

Graphically SoR 4 is pretty to look at. Colorful backgrounds and well animated characters, but again, it does not give the right SoR feeling I craved for. It feels like a saturday morning cartoon "Axel and Friends" at times.

I really did want to like this game since I waited 26 years for the sequel but this is not Streets Of Rage. This wants to be streets of rage but misses the goal. As I like to call this "Mockolate SoR". I wants to be like real deal but it's not.

Unfortunately this is a mediocre beat em up and without SoR name would probably be easily ignored. Weakest game of the series, unfortunately.

Do yourself a favour and wait for the sale.

6/10

+It looks nice
+Music is OK. Some nice tunes and beats. Not as good as in old games though.
+Controller Rumble is nice
+Punching enemies feels nice

-SFX is lacking compared to other SoR games
-Level design is poor.
-Boss fights are not fun and difficulty is all over the place. Earlier bosses are harder than some last stage bosses and vice versa.
-Game mechanics is not as good as in older SoR games (or SoRR)

Unfortunately this is the least fun Tomb Raider experience from the new trilogy. Few nice tombs, but otherwise this is very forgettable. Story, enviroments, combat, weapons, everything is worse in this game than in it's predecessors.

The whole game felt like a chore.

I suggest getting the first Tomb Raider or Rise Of The Tomb Raider instead of this game.

It's pretty to look at, but other than that, nothing much.

Tales Of Eternia, Tales Of Symphonia and Tales Of Vesperia are some of my all time favourite games and JRPGs. So I decided to get this one as this got so much praise.

But...I was disappointed. This game just feels lazy compared to other in series. Music is boring and repetitive, I cannot honestly remember any music from this game. I still remember tunes from Eternia, Symphonia and Vesperia.

Graphically this game is very colorful and characters seem nice but the world design is boring. Towns look almost all the same, dungeons are bland and boring, world map is just one huge plain. Where is the imagination? Or maybe they tried to make this game look more realistic, I don't know, but I really missed the awesome town designs from earlier games.

I didn't care much about the characters. And when you don't care about the characters you don't care about the story.
Magilou was fun. Lots of unnecessary drama. It felt like they tried way too hard to make player to feel something towards the characters.

I remember when I played other games in the series. I listened every conversation, every skit, searched every place and wanted to find out everything the world has to offer. Played all minigames etc. But not in this game.

There was some nice moments in this game but overall, this game just felt like a chore I wanted to end as quickly as possible - it still took me 50 hours.

I really, really wanted to like this game. But In the end, I didn't.
