Star Control II is one of the best games in the history of computer gaming, and has been for more than twenty-five years.

Yes, this is the original MS-DOS version, in all its 1992 glory. Keep that in mind when you play it. All those start-up options, including the key mapper, is how the game was done in 1992 (and many other games did this as well; this was hardly atypical). The copy protection is (thankfully) gone, although the game came with a paper map (part of the original copy protection) that greatly helped in-game, as it was a reference point for locations mentioned.

DOSBox is configured a little wonky (I prefer the purest original DOS graphics, versus the smoothed version that's configured in DOSBox), but that can be fixed (or not, if you like), and the game plays just fine out of the box.

Unparalleled RPG action experience, great plot, wonderful writing, excellent music. If you have any sense of computer gaming history, this game simply cannot be missed (especially at these prices).
