like Factorio, this game is also in the just-play-it category. S+ tier game.

Its one of the few games I've bothered to fully finish. That should tell you everything, its a very good game.

The difficulty in a few areas (e.g. the first castle boss straight after starting DLC) are maybe a bit overtuned if you go in with a random build from playing the OG game 2 years ago (like I did), but once you adapt to the new difficulty its quite enjoyable.

That said, I don't think they can push difficulty any further like this, every boss having 20 hit combos which fly you across the entire arena at the same time while you only have 0.1 sec invuln from dodge roll is a bit... mechanically imbalanced. I'de love to see Elden Ring 2 have the tarnished be able to fight the bosses on their own terms, being insanely fast like they are.

So this is a difficult one to review. Basically this is a solid all around game, much like Skyrim was, much like Morrowind was, etc. There is little/no "mind blowing" story or gameplay moments though.

Overall I would recommend it if you enjoyed Skyrim/Morrowind as it is very similar. A lot of people are being quite unfair to this game I feel and giving a bad review because its not the "best game ever made", but logically that doesn't make sense.

7/10 on my own personal rating scale.

It all just somehow works to make a good experience. Don't worry about the jank or bad graphics.

Its simply the best war simulator available to the general public.

I really like the scope and overall design of the game. At the moment it has quite a few bugs which I'm hoping get patched out in the near future

Not this game, in this game you are a godlike deliverer of destruction and it feels good for when that is what you want.

Spiritual successor to Total Annihilation and Forged Alliance. Precisely what this genre has needed for a long time. Has a fairly small but extremely dedicated community. Hopefully this game reboots the RTS genre like Path of Exile did for ARPGS.

Edit 1 year later after returning for a few weeks:

Unfortunately the game didn't really take off and now has a very small and also quite toxic community like many other small RTS games. Aside from the usual griefing, trolling and flaming often present in such communities I have seen examples of extremely serious racism and antisemitism.

There is a mod team but it's made up of volunteers with no training giving the feel of old-school 90s IRC moderators. Let's just say its very inconsistent.
