Fun, simple, in every way that those descriptions can be be thought of as a good thing.

This game will make you rethink literally everything you build pretty much half an hour after you build it, and make you love it too. More fun than real engineering while basically being real engineering, I had to basically stop playing this game if I had anything important within the week because I get too addicted. 13/10, would play again

At first I thought this game was a little slow and it didn't grab my attention. And then about 3 hours in everything just started unlocking and many hours later I just want to keep exploring.
Hollow Knight does so well what other AAA games strive for - it combines choose-your-own-path elements with locked elements. It has a subtle story with an gigantic array of enemies, goofy characters, and surprises. The best part though, is how you can "discover" a side path that will take you down to areas with hours of gameplay. Somehow, the developers constantly make you feel like you're finding secrets while progressing you thorugh the story. I honestly can't tell if I'm every supposed to go through some hidden walls to find a new area or if the game was designed for me to find it, and I love that.
Be warned though, this game is hard. You will die 15,20,30 times fighting some bosses until you figure out techniques that work. Although this can be frustrating, when you actually beat a boss it'll be because you found new techniques and not some cheap moves, which makes the game all the better.
If you like side-scrolling adventure titles in the vein of Super Metroid, with a great soundtrack, atmosphere, and some really cool graphics, get this game.
