Yes, you HAVE to spend money to progress with your ships in that you HAVE to buy the expansion for the game. If you do not buy it you will NOT have access to certain ships at all and most importantly will not have access to the so called engineers, i.e. will not be able to modify and improve any of the ship modules thus you can forget about multiplayer and PvP. If you buy the base game only you basically stand no chance in PvP whatsoever. And the improvements through engineering are stupidly high, i.e. 70% more damage done, ship shields are several times stronger, ship flies 50% faster, turns faster, etc.

Yea I check, Ive always wanted it and was about to buy it then I saw your review and the paying for stuff part concerns me, so a quick question. If i would want to progress like upgrade my ship and parts and all that, would I have to use real money at some stage? Like besides the things that you said in your review
