Excited to try this out, but for now refunded the game. Performance is abysmal across all settings presets on top-end hardware even without raytracing (RT on is a veritable slideshow). I'll keep an eye out for future updates, but I'd recommend saving your money for now.

I don't even know where to begin. This game is an incredible gem that is well worth its sticker price. I keep looking for the words to describe it but, honestly, I think beyond the loose description of a roguelike trading card game, you just need to experience it for yourself!

if you enjoyed the first game, don't ruin your experience with this one. The developers unfortunately lost sight of pretty much everything that made the original title shine.

One of the worst games I've had the immense displeasure of playing.

NPCs spawn and despawn seemingly randomly, with vehicle convoys, planes, or swarms of suddenly-spawned NPCs inexplicably appearing while you're in the middle of other activities. While taking out those enemies, you might find that some of them have seemingly disappeared, only to be replaced by new enemies in different locations. This makes it impossible to approach combat tactically, and entirely ruins the combat mechanics that have made previous Far Cry titles enjoyable.

The story feels forced and lacks any real sense of engagement. At certain points, the game begins sending enemies after you with the goal of capturing you for the purpose of literally forcing the story to progress. You can run from these enemies if you care to, but you'll inevitably find yourself succumbing to the "bliss bullets" fairly quickly, so might as well just let it happen and get it over with.

There's plenty of side content to be had, and some of it actually can be quite entertaining, but good luck enjoying it with the aforementioned NPC spawning/combat issues. These problems plague the player experience during free exploration and side missions alike.

If you're into coop, don't bother driving separately - the game will force you be virtually glued together at the hip anyway, so you might as well spawn something with a mounted gun and make use of it.

Ultimately, one of the most frustrating and disappointing "AAA" titles I've ever seen. Save your money for something that's actually worth it.

Development is steadily headed in the wrong direction. Whoever's calling the shots at BHVR seems to consistently ignore the glaring issues with the game, instead choosing to focus on adding more paid DLC characters and consequently breaking the game even further. Since they've set their sights on overhauling graphical assets, the optimization has rapidly declined to the point that I consider this game unplayable at present due to frame drops.

Queue times have also steadily gotten worse, so buckle up to spend more time waiting for a match than you do playing the match.

It's a shame, since this game really did shine for quite a while even despite the many flaws it's always had.

Absolutely phenomenal cooperative puzzle platformer with a breathtaking art style and a beautiful story. Perfect 5/7 - I'd buy this one again in a heartbeat.

For those interested in cost-to-playtime ratio, we completed this in about 7 hours, and missed some achievements which we're planning to go back and try for.

A coop experience with apparently great potential, ruined by constant disconnects from the game servers.

What could be an incredible step up from CMS 2015 is unfortunately ruined by the plethora of bugs that plague it, compounded by the inexplicable decision to remove any semblance streamlined controls. In its current state, the game seems to be worthy of a late-alpha/early-beta phase badging.

The core game actually seems to have some cool things going for it, but I'm certainly not alone in having not made it far enough to even experience much of the new content due to bugs that, at best, hinder gameplay and, at worst, cause significant loss of progress, forcing you to repeat much (if not all) of the work you had already done.

On the topic of controls, the game appears to have been developed with a "one size fits all" mentality. You want to rebind keys? SOL! You want to disable mouse acceleration? SOL! You want to modify your mouse sensitivity/invert axis? You guessed it: SOL! Many of these aren't a major problem for me personally, but these all fall into the category of incredibly basic quality of life features which appear to have been completey forgotten by the developer. Hotkeys used to make switching between Assembly/Disassembly/Inspection modes, and many other interactions a breeze, but all of these are now relegated to the clunky new context wheel.

I'm hopeful that the developer will get the majority of these issues ironed out in the coming weeks, but I'm not holding my breath at this point. As it stands currently, you're certainly better off taking a hard pass on the purchase and waiting for the game to be release-worthy.

Hands down one of the most poorly designed games I have ever had the displeasure of playing. Bought it on sale thinking it might be fun to see what they've done with the Ace Combat series, and I really hope this is not a solid representation of what it has become. Story-telling feels stilted and empty. Gameplay feels scripted; I can deal with the enemies coming in waves, but I can't fathom who would have thought making an enemy "ace pilot" invincible unless you use the game's rail-shooter mode in order to make them seem more skilled was a good idea. Absolute waste of money.
