Honestly a great remake. Movement mechanics are intact from the original game although the camera was slightly different when I played.

The characters are rendered in stunning detail and are incredibly well designed and voiced. The worlds look gorgeous and Spyro himself looks better than ever.

10/10 (really)

It's worth the price if you are into a realistic looking/feeling arcade driving game.

One complaint I have is that the audio seems to be poorly implemented. There is no bass and you can't even apply EQ unless you install a virtual audio device. The sound doesn't even change when I turn off my subwoofer. It's like everything under 100Hz is faded out to nothing and it's pretty disappointing.

Graphics are the best I've ever seen a driving game. The lighting is better than I've seen in any game, ever. Driving physics feel realistic but the cars are more grippy than typical sim race games.

Despite some infuriating bugs, this is probably the most advanced open world game there is, even in 2021. It is a marvel of technology and talent meticulously coming together. An example for other game studios to follow.

Fun balance of historical accuracy and gameplay. Very nice visual quality and polish. Unique combat system. Start as a nobody and gain reputation, status and wealth through adventuring and engaging in historical events of 15th Century Kingdom of Bohemia.

"Evrima" Update 4 is now arguably better than "Legacy" despite having less playable creatures. Be sure to right click on the game > Properties > Betas and select Evrima, wait for download and restart Steam if you want to play the newest version of the Isle.

Update 4 is a big deal. It introduced and polished a lot of features and mechanics and the best part is that they work, they make sense, and they are actually fun to use. A lot was improved since the rocky release of Evrima but this update in particular feels like a big pivotal point in this game's development.

Legacy Review:
This is an open world multiplayer survival sim with exceptionally detailed and well animated dinosaurs as playable characters set in the wilderness of a couple enormous island maps where players must hunt or be hunted.

In survival mode players start with a juvenile dinosaur and must stay alive long enough to grow and reach adulthood. This can take as little as 25 minutes to as much as 7 hours depending on overall power and health of that dinosaur. There are usually 2 overall growth stages with some species having 3 (3-4 if you include hatchling) juvenile, sub-adult, and adult with each stage featuring a different character model and stats, such as bite/attack force, bleed damage, leg break chance, overall speed, ambush sprint speed/duration, turn radius, stamina, stamina recovery, health, and bleed resistance among others. Some dinosaurs have 2 different attacks. These stats are somewhat hidden and players should do their homework and train on sandbox servers to play most effectively.

You could also be invited to a nest created by another player. In this case the player gives up their existing dinosaur and spawns as a very weak hatchling inside the nest of the player who created it. Because the maps are enormous nests can be useful instead of running across the map for an hour only to die right before you meet up with your friend.

At this point in time, players must only eat and drink to stay alive. That said, it is not easy at all. You can expect to die several times before you make it to adulthood. Each death completely resets any progress made previously, which can be soul crushing. Death is often quick and unexpected.

Players are encouraged to group up to increase their chances of survival. Some players will say that same species are generally willing to team up and cooperate while others say to not trust anyone because they will stab you in the back when you least expect it. In my experience both are true but it is a lot more common to find friendly folks than antisocial types.

On official servers text chat between different species is disabled, meaning you can only chat with players of the same species; however, each dinosaur character has 5 unique calls which players may use for communication. 1. Broadcast (long range) 2. Friendly 3. Aggressive 4. Danger and F. Special (short range) Beware that using calls will give away your general location to other players who may run away, or hunt you. On official servers, herbivores are allowed to group up with any other herbivore while carnivores can only group up with their own species. The most powerful weight class dinosaurs have a group limit of 4-5. Breaking these rules results in a 24 hour ban or permanent ban from official servers. Server admins are surprisingly quick to dish out this punishment so don't test it.

Each dinosaur also has a scent mechanic. Using scent will reveal footprints up to 5 minutes old, nearby bodies of water and your compass heading. Pressing Insert displays the character screen which shows your stats as well as your location on the map in the form of latitude and longitude coordinates which can be used with maps downloaded from the internet to identify where you are and plan your movements. Not too long ago The Isle introduced small A.I. dinosaurs which made the game a little less intense for new players. Use your hearing to find A.I. and hunt them but beware their calls may entice other, perhaps larger, predators.

Many servers allow up to 100 players with official servers often being impenetrably full. Several log in attempts are sometimes needed to get an open slot. The dinosaurs can be customized with realistic colors to make players more distinguishable from others playing as same species without allowing colors that break immersion.

Every species has strengths and weaknesses which determine how they are best played. For example: the small and adorable herbivore Dryosaurus can dig burrows to escape predators, Utahraptors can exploit these burrows until they become adults and can no longer fit in them. Dilophasaurus has great night vision and so much bleed damage that groups of 2 or more can easily bleed out a sub-adult T.Rex despite being much smaller. The Carnotaurus is the game's fastest carnivore, but their reduced turn radius makes it difficult to chase Utahraptors who are slightly slower but a lot more agile.

I've heard this game can be compared to Beasts of Bermuda. Beasts of Bermuda is nowhere near as detailed and seamless visually while The Isle appears to struggle a bit with meaningful game mechanics, and character progression other than growth. Updates are frequent and the game seems financially successful enough for the developers to continue its development actively. Speaking of developers the person in charge of this game goes by Dondi and it appears that a very small team is working on this project. I've heard that Dondi can be quite a character. I believe that he and his team have recently switched gears and made an effort to be more friendly and professional, which is great but please, let these guys do their job instead of arguing with them.

This game has an official discord which is very active and can instantly get new players in touch with the game community where they can learn the ins and outs of what it takes to survive and thrive in The Isle. Be sure to read patch notes to get the scoop on whatever changes were made as it may be important. Devs also host development streams and "Ask a Dev" events where players have a chance to ask questions or up-vote questions they feel are important. Overall The Isle official discord is a great place to learn about the game and become involved in the development process.

The game has changed a lot over the years and it seems that slowly but surely it is coming together nicely.

A very unique game. With that said I wish the game was developed faster and more dramatically. I wish there were more things to do. While I owned this game the devs added two new maps, expanded crafting, wildlife diversity and just about evey existing element of the game but I really wish there were new elements. Less tweaking and more inventing plz. Story mode is still not out yet. Its a great concept and there is so much potential. Its unfinished and limited but still counts as an exceptional experience. You will die.

Number 1 favorite game of all time. Learning curve is as steep as it is rewarding. Version 1.2 really made the game shine.
