Just the most appalling garbage imaginable. I do not know what compelled me to buy this crap. It has not one single redeeming feature.

Excellent, meditative and very relaxing in a strange way. Perhaps the addition of some more live elements (such as people, boats etc) and the ability to designate buildings or areas to certain categories such as market, church, house might improve the experience?
I love it anyway and look forward to seeing what future updates provide.

The franchise is just playing to the formula now. I don't play online and I am willing to bet that may be slightly more interesting than the single player campaign mode. I feel qualified to say this after 40 years of gaming but F*** me this game is dull.

Why do the people in this game take several dozen rounds of 7.65 fired from an Ak to die but the influenza virus wipes them out in seconds? I really hate this game.

It was a long time coming and as one of the Kickstarter backers I was worried that like so many games before it, it wouldn't really appear but now here it is and IT IS GREAT.
I've not yet played it through but what I've experienced is really good. Sure, there are still some bugs but the devs are really working hard to iron them out and updates bring more content and fewer glitches.
One of my new favourites.

Initial impressions -
1. The game COULD have been quite enjoyable
BUT
2. it has been ruined by what must be the worst control system I have seen in 30 years of gaming. Truly horrible stuff. Non-intuitive, unresponsive and useless in a pinch.

I bought this game way back when Victoria still sat upon the throne - and it was not so great. I have recently installed it once again and I have to say - IT IS F******* FANTASTIC!
This much stupidity has not previously been unleashed onto the virtual roads of STEAM. If you don't buy this game, people will call you bad names and use very strong language to say bad things about your family.
I am pleased with this game.

I am kind of trapped between wanting to give this game a good rap because it is fun and panning it because there are too many terrible fun busters to give it the thumbs up.
On the plus side - who doesn't want to kill the loud party people next door and keep on killing them at multiple venues.
That's about it though really.....
On the minus side, well -
1. the developers put in a range of interesting "booby traps" that you can set off to kill guests but each level includes so very few of them that it hardly seems worthwhile having them at all.
2. The cops are so horribly OP that it is near impossible to get away from them once they clock you. That wouldn't be so bad if you could shiv them like the guests but for some perverse reason the devs decided that your pig sicker can't kill the police.
3. The stun bombs are good but again, if there were more of them it would make the game more fun. The smoke bombs do nothing.
4. I want cheats!
5. More creative means of killing people would also be welcome.
Having played now for 3 or so hours, I am done. I have spent more than 2/3 of that time stuck on the same stupid level with no hope of moving on.

I rarely write a positive review and in all honesty, I'd prefer to rip a game to pieces than rack my brains for superlatives to help define why I don't hate something. It's much more fun saying things like "I'd rather have brain cancer than a copy of this game" .......... but I can't say that about DayZ.
Sure, it went into alpha before the Vietnam war and certainly, you can spend hours in the game pointlessly looking through a succession of empty houses while only narrowly avoiding death by cold / hunger / thirst / zombie / all of the above - but there is something here. I am not certain I can define what that thing is for you without using the word "contemplate". There is no "Run & Gun" in this game. Each move you make needs to be done after a fairly thorough consideration of the tactical consequences. In contrast to nearly every other "Zombie Survival" game it forces you to initially prioritise the basics (food & clothing). Because weapons aren't common the game doesn't begin with a fire fight and I personally like that.
There is also a certain irony about things in this game. Taking 15 hours to cross the map, collecting weapons, food and warm clothes, seeing off hostiles and zombies along the way only to fall to my death off of one of the ONLY rock faces in the game didn't make me laugh too much at the time but I appreciated the death for its banality.
I like the game. You may not but I'd recommend you buy it anyhow and see what happens.

What can be said about another crafting survival game that hasn't been said before? I had high hopes. They were not met. Waiting endless in game hours for your team to find that elusive strip of cat fur or hi-viz gegaw so you can fashion some mindless nothing for your players is not my idea of fun. Nor is making certain that they shower themselves, take a dump, wash the floors, eat some food or drink some water. Why can't these things be automated?
In all, if you think you might be interested in a waiting / crapping / eating simulator then for sure, buy this game and experience what it is like to have virtual remote control of a class of retarded kids living through the apocalypse.
Truly depressing.
