Clunky and can be quite un-intuitive at (many ) times, but very satisfying figuring out what to do and how to do it.
For early access loons its a very good $ per hour play experience even if it ends up in the pile of shame after a month, bonus that you can revisit after its next updated.

For all you jaded Red Faction Guerrilla whingers out there, complaining there has never been a destruction game like it, Just shut the frack up and buy this already.

Don't buy this if you have less than 24hours spare time per day.

Seriously though:
Seems really cool (its passed my 5 minute with no rage quit test), getting a little motion sickness :S from the pivoting mechanic.
Review to be updated when i get a few hours to play through.

Ultimately usless as wallpapers and screensavers are.
But it works with my odd multiscreen arangement so it makes me happy.

10+ hours in, i intentionally avoided wiki's/this forum or googling for any assistance.
I'ts like the dev designed the game just for me :) I can see why so many people have clocked up ridiculous gameplay hours now.

Review update: Was great, if only they had of content locked it 2 years ago and polished.
But instead they added thousands of useless objects while ignoring most of the major gameplay frustrations.
The Zombies don't even want to play this anymore.
Avoid it.

If like me, you loved Red faction: Guerrilla and just Cause 2*
Mad Max is a glorious mashup of both gameplay styles.

20 Hours in it is a solid 8/10 must have game, on competition you retrospect the rinse repeat flaws somewhat, but considering in my 60+ hours playtime the game never once crashed, froze, spazed-out (dog once barked at an empty minefield for a while).

It’s a fantastic PO sandbox world.
*If you haven’t played Red faction: Guerrilla and just Cause 2, get them ASAP FFS.

Like: Alot of gameplay without being too repetative.
gritty, man on fire feel to it (dark). Solid game allround 7.5/10

Cons: DRM nonsense that almost resulted in a protest NEG, some phone home ♥♥♥♥ that will render the game usless once rockstar get tired of running the activation servers for it.

3 Years on my first review still holds

From the early days pre-steam version it's been exceptional, and has improved to a point now that any attempt to review it properly will just come off as fanboi hyperbole.

Summary:
What appears to be an unassuming physics puzzler, belies the fact it is by far the most robust space simulator available.
Remove the cutsie aliens, explody fun stuff and you'd think you have hacked into NASA's orbital mechanics simulation server farm.

May be the only 10/10 game in my 600+ steam library.
